Item: American Idol
Language: en-US
Type of Problem: Incorrect_content
Extra Details: Because this listing is for the Fox original series (not to be confused with the current ABC series, that last year newly officially restarted American Idol, as well as the seasons counter back to 1), that concluded and was cancelled in 2016, I suggest that the locked Overview text be revised to take it out of the active/current tense and change it into the inactive past tense. My suggested revised text (that mainly just adjusts tense of the current Overview's wording):
Fox network's American Idol reality-singing competition was a program created by Simon Fuller. It began airing on Fox on June 11, 2002, as an addition to the Idols format based on the British series Pop Idol and subsequently became one of the most successful shows in the history of American television. The concept of the series was to find new solo recording artists where the winner was determined by the viewers in America. The Fox series concluded on April 7, 2016. (It is not to be confused with the new ABC series that premiered in 2018.)

I removed it. That overview is against our guidelines.

Thanks. Is it okay if I tweak your new text a bit to refer to the series in the past tense and to mention its concluding date? (I just want to make sure that people who don't know otherwise will be clear that it's a defunct/concluded Fox series, not to be confused with the new/current ABC series.)

I think it's already super clear from the data (season, cancelled status, ...).

Sounds good. It keeps coming up listed in TMDb search results over top of the new/current ABC version of the series, which is why I think a lot of people (who don't ever take note of indicated seasons, or cancelled, etc. status) won't realize the new series is entirely separate/new from the former one, and that they therefore need to scroll down below that listing to get to the new series' listing.
