Discuss Lupin the 3rd

Item: Lupin the Third

Language: en-US

Type of Problem: Incorrect_content

Extra Details: These are five different TV shows, not five seasons of the same show. The site's TV bible says we should follow how they were marketed and released and indeed each of these were marketed and released as a different show (on airing and now: separate listings on streaming networks, DVDs, ect.) They also have their own seasons, for example, Part II has four seasons, each with a different OP, it's not one season with 155 episodes. They should be split into five (soon to be six) different show pages. The "specials" season just duplicates entries that have full listings as TV movies elsewhere on the site, that can be deleted.

Bumping this. This should be addressed, and each season split into it's own show. These are simply different shows (by this sites standard and everyone else's), not a single show.

Bumping this again and asking how best to split up the show. The TV Anime bible is clear that these shows should each have their own page ("On the other hand, reboot series, spin-off series, series set in an alternative timeline, new adaptations based on the same source material, ... are added as a new TV entry").

If the mods have the tools to split out a season into its own show page, that would be ideal, particularly carrying over translations and episode thumbnails. Then we can do some minor edits to the the tiles and split each show into seasons. The 2nd show has four seasons as listed here (this split originally taken from the official Japanese website). For Part III, it's produced in two separate cours, each with their own OP, but the Japanese website list it all together, which is what I think the TV bible wants. And again, the "specials" season just duplicates entries that have full listings as TV movies elsewhere on the site; that can be deleted.

As also indicated in our contribution bible, you need to wait 2 months without answers before bumping your report.

Bumping it before is not in your favor, as the report move in the report queue and the 2 months delay restart from that time.

Apologies, I figured a month was sufficient.

That's true for most series, however, anime series have their own guidelines: https://www.themoviedb.org/bible/tv/59f743289251416e71000037#5b71c6b4c3a3684161000001

They also have their own seasons, for example, Part II has four seasons, each with a different OP, it's not one season with 155 episodes.

You can use episode groups for alternative orders.

Okay.

Thanks for deleting the "specials!"

I read all that. Parts 4-6 do share a continuity, but each other series has it's own continuity and thus I think would be split like Gundam is on this site. This is also how they are marketed on the official Japanese sites, which the guide says to try to match. If you've watched them and disagree, I'll defer, but otherwise I think they make more sense as separate entries, based on this site's guidelines.

Any progress on this?

Deleting "specials" only addressed one part of the problem. Season 6 (or whatever it needs to be referred to as) has started airing - that is, if the special is part of season 6... which multiple sites seem to have it listed as.

Also, the "official" site (not sure what's actually official at this point) lists the special as airing on Oct. 9th... frankly this season/part's ordering is a real head scratcher.

Whether to split "Ep 0" of Part Six off is really a separate issue. TVDB lists it as a special (with episode one being episode one). I think this sites rules would also list it that way (either under specials for this mega-"Lupin" show or, hopefully in the future, a special episode under Part 6's own entry). That would make the most sense by far, but I don't really have any experience with that all, and leave it to more regular users. Feel free to make the edits yourself.

My hope is still that these shows get separate listings, as they do not share a continuity, and under every standard listed in the bible, deserve their own show pages.

Pretty sure episode 0 should go into the specials season. I can't create it again tho because creating new seasons was disabled.
