Which is not so far fetched as it might seem since the writers and producers were inspired by John Carpenter's The Thing who is a big fan of Lovecraft plus the Carpenters film and the Nyby(Hawks) movie The Thing From Another World were inspired by the story "Who Goes There? " by John W. Campbell jr. which was published in 1938 and those who are fan of both books don't exclude that Who Goes There? was in some way or other inspired by At The Frozen Mountain Of Madness by Lovecraft which was published two years earlier in 1936.

That's some interesting info Nexus. I've been meaning to read Who Goes There for a long time now, but never think of it at the right time. Thanks for reminding me about it, I'll have to see if it's available on Project Gutenberg for free. It's old enough to be under the public domain, I think.

Well glad to be of service Moon,I happen to know about the whole The Thing vibe for this episode because they mention it in the audio commentary for this episode which was an extra on the complete series dvd set I have. And in the past I have heard Carpenter talking about Lovecraft on various commentaries on his movies.
