محادثة Jem

Item: Season 1

Language: en-US

Type of Problem: Incorrect_content

Extra Details: It seems the episodes are incorrect, in that their are 26 episodes in season 1 (According to Wikipedia, IMDB, the Jem wiki, And the DVDs my friend has.)

We where trying to fix it but the season is locked and unable to add more episodes. So I guess I'm requesting it be unlocked?

Also as a heads up, the problem seems to extend to the second season as well, and since that is unlocked, my friend and I will attempt to fix that.

Apologies in advance if we are ignorant to something else going on.

EDIT: Ah, I just read the other reports... hrmm. Is their no way to rectify the data so that both: the fact that they aired as shorts is represented and it works for meta data fetchers? (though I suppose I could get the meta data from a different site. but even so, why are season 2 and 3 in the wrong place?
Edit 2: Never mind Just read the thing about season 2 and 3. Wait but then why are season 2 and 3 jammed together into season 3, wouldn't that be season 3 and 4?

EDIT 3, MY ACTUAL REQUEST: Could we put the 15 segments/episodes that make up S1 episodes 1-5 into specials?
Then rectify seasons 1, 2, and 3 to correlate with second syndication/home media releases of Jem?
(Argument as to why to do this and how it would be a good idea in the third reply to this topic)

Edit 4, Solution: I added a way to get the Metadata the coincides with the DVD/Wiki arrangement, at least for the Jellyfin Media server Program.
I renamed the topic to reflect this, I feel change the problem type and move this to general?? I don't know enough about it to know if that's correct and I'm bored with this problem anyways. To much work not enough reward. Have a good one.

Edit 5: UGHHhhhhhh. So turns out even WITH the TVDB metadata it still doesn't PERFECTLY line up with the DVD he has. which makes me think, their is no RIGHT way to label these episodes, it's all a mess.
The best I can say is: use TMDB if you have the first 5 episodes as 15 segments, Use TVDB if you have them as 5 episodes . Good luck and goodnight, I'm outta here (PLEAS LET IT BE TRUE THIS TIME T_T)

So, after going over the other seasons it seems that the page MAY have been vandalized or something? Again forgive me if I'm incorrect, But given the previous sources I mentioned it would seem that:

The episodes listed in season 2 are actually season 1, episodes 6-26

The episodes listed in season 3 1-27 are actually season 2, episodes 1-27

The episodes listed in season 3 28-39 are actually season 3 Episodes 1-12

The episodes in Season 1 are confusing. The first episode is Correct, but after that none of the titles correspond to any episode of Jem from any season. The existing descriptions do match their corresponding episodes however:

  1. The Beginning = S1 EP1 "The Beginning"
  2. The Challenge = S1 EP2 "Disaster"
  3. Fire! = S1 EP3 "Kimber's Rebellion"
  4. Nowhere To Go = S1 EP4 "Frame Up"

HOWEVER, As I was looking through the Wiki I noticed a certain verbiage in the trivia section of the first 5 episodes: "The three segments for this episode were titled..."
I'm unsure what a "segment" is (Jem is mostly my friends thing, I'm just trying to fix the titles and descriptions in our jellyfin server) but it seems that whoever changed the episodes in Season 1 was trying to make them correspond to the list of these segments.
The Beginning (S1 E1):

  1. The Beginning
  2. The Challenge
  3. Fire!

Disaster (S1 EP2):

  1. Nowhere To Go
  2. The Mansion
  3. The Yacht

Kimber's Rebellion (S1 EP3):

  1. The Video Clip
  2. Defections
  3. Zapped

Frame Up (S1 EP4):

  1. The Sparks Fly
  2. The Robbery
  3. The Detective

The Battle of the Bands (S1 E5):

  1. Synergy
  2. Prisoners
  3. The Big Contest

Maybe they though that this was a list for those segments? Maybe the had a DVD of specifically these segments. I honestly don't know, but if this IS a list for those segments and I have to make a separate page for the Jem TV show, my bad.

Actually, It just occurred to me I can edit the episodes that the the episodes I have line up with the ones on here.
The PROBLEM is that the first 5 episodes won't work. I COULD just add those episodes to season 2 and bump the other episodes up 5 places. though I'm not sure if that would get me in trouble with the mods...
Honestly, it kinda feels like we should have 2 different Jem pages, one for the original syndication where it was a bunch of music videos, and one for the secondary syndication where it was like, a normal show. But, I also don't know enough about Jem to make that call.

WAIT WAIT WAIT WAIT WAIT!
Couldn't we put the 15 segments/episodes that make up S1 episodes 1-5 into specials?
Then rectify seasons 1, 2, and 3 to correlate with second syndication/home media releases of Jem?

Cus honestly what it sounds like (Cus I have still not looked into Jem) is that the 15 segments predate Jem being syndicated as a series and are like a season 0, And isn't that exactly what the specials category is for?
You could even make note of their special status in the specials title (Cus the special titles tend to be more loose) AND in the description of both the segments AND the episode. Like:
Special 1: The per-syndicated episodes: "The Beginning" DESCRIPTION: "Description of episode" + This episode is the first part of Season 1 Episode 1 "The Beginning".
S1 E1: The Beginning DESCRIPTION: "Description of episode" + This episode is made up off the original segments: "The Beginning", "The Challenge", and "Fire!"

I invite you to read this previous content report.

You should also read our segmentation rule. I quote : "For kids cartoon with two or three distinct stories (segments) per half-hour, each episode should be split so that each segment is an episode. For example, "Going the Extra Milo / Sunny Side Up" should be two episodes. The main reason for splitting the segments is that segments are often released individually and/or paired with a different segment in subsequent releases."

I'm not sure how this was resolved but... this jem guide is absolutely unusable. The episodes names do not match the actual names, the number of episodes do not match the number of actual episodes. This needs to be gutted and redone or something.

As indicated above, we don't list shows as they are available now, but as they were originally broadcasted.

but they didn't air this way. this guide is just plain wrong. it does not even have descriptions or images past the first couple episodes to make seance out of. please show me a guide anywhere on the internet that will explain to me how to rename my set this way. or a guide that even says these episode names ever existed. every guide on the internet seems to agree that season 1 was titled this way and aired in this order.

  1. 1-1 06 Oct 85 The Beginning
  2. 1-2 27 Oct 85 Disaster
  3. 1-3 17 Nov 85 Kimber's Rebellion
  4. 1-4 08 Dec 85 Frame Up
  5. 1-5 29 Dec 85 The Battle of the Bands
  6. 1-6 05 Jul 86 Starbright Part One: "Falling Star"

  25. 1-25 22 Feb 87 Culture Clash
  26. 1-26 15 Mar 87 Glitter and Gold

As indicated clearly in the linked listing, your listing is wrong.

The season 1 is made with the first 5 episodes of your list split in 3 segments each. They have only be merged later. The dates are the ones for the first segment and the titles are the ones from the currently merged episodes.

The season 2 is made with the episodes going from 6 to 26 in your list.

oh right, sorry i did a bunch of investigating after the last post and came back to update on my findings... so yeah they aired the first 5 all split up and crazy like you just let me know right after i read it somewhere else ha. so i guess i'll be naming them stuff like s01e01e02e03.

Since this report, for me, was mostly about getting the metadata to work for the current wiki/DVD arrangement (I get that it doesn't seem like that at first, but I had no idea what was going on with this page), I'd like to cap it with the solution I found For Jellyfin (cus that's the media server program I'm using, hopefully it also works in others like Plex)

So while this site covers the original arrangement, thetvdb.com has the arrangement more commonly found in DVDs (or at least the DVD's my friend has)
To use the data in Jellyfin, without resetting all the "themoviedb.org" data you already have:

  1. In the Dashboard, go to Plugins. Open the Catalog and install TheTVDB. Restart Jellyfin.
  2. After restarting, in Dashboard open Libraries. Click "Manage Library" on the library with Jem in it (You click those three dots on the library)
  3. Turn off the other Metadata down loaders in "Metadata down loaders (Episodes)" (and any other category you want really).
  4. Go to the actual library with Jem in it, and click on "Refresh metadata" specifically on the Jem TV show (Those 3 dots again). Set Refresh mode to "Replace all metadata" (and check "Replace Existing images" if you're trying to replace the images)
  5. After that finishes (It probably shouldn't take that long) click on "Edit metadata" specifically on the Jem TV show (3 dots), and check the option "Lock this item to prevent future changes"
  6. Go back to the Library you changed in the Dashboard and set the options back to how they where before (NOTE: I tired doing this without locking the shows metadata by using Nfo in "Metadata Savers" and the "Save images to media folder" option, but it didn't work. Even when the NFO's where unchanged the metadata uploaded when the libraries options where set back to normal. So if you can figure out how to make that work, Nice job. Honestly, reply with your process)

So that'll do it. It's very manual, and not automated at all. But it works.

Of course if you just wanted it automated you could drop TMDB in favor of TVDB.

But I don't know what TVDB is like so, I guess I'll "Stick with the devil I know"?

Also, An obvious question might be "Why not label the episodes "s01e01e02e03" like above" and also "Why don't you just split the episodes to match the TMDB arrangement"

To answer "Why don't you just split the episodes to match the TMDB arrangement": Splitting videos is a pain and I don't wana do it. (also I don't know if it's possible with the way the secondary arrangement is released. If it's not I'd have to troll around looking for physical media that matches this sites arrangement and it's WAY easier (and cheaper) to just switch metadata providers)

For "Why not label the episodes "s01e01e02e03" like above": I tried that it didn't work. According to reddit, a few people have had problems getting this to work and it may just NOT be a function in Jellyfin. If it is in other Media server Programs that's great, DO THAT INSTEAD OF THIS, it sounds way easier XD you could probably fix the descriptions in the season one episodes to work like that as well (unless that's locked too) If their is a way to make that work in Jellyfin, deffinatly post that as a reply. That would be super helpful.

Ok that's all I got. Closing on my end.
