The Soul Society is observing a sudden surge in the number of Hollows being destroyed.

Arrancars Nel Tu and Pesche Guatiche have come to seek Ichigo’s help explaining that Hueco Mundo is under attack by an unknown enemy. Unable to ignore the situation, Ichigo and his friends decide to set out for Hueco Mundo.

Ichigo and his friends arrive in Hueco Mundo to confront Quilge Opie and learn that their latest enemy are Quincies.

The Wandenreich mobilizes its elite force, the Stern Ritter, to annihilate the Soul Society. Creating massive flaming pillars of Reishi as a distraction, the Stern Ritter easily enter the Soul Society to bring carnage to the Soul Reapers.

Quilge Opie uses his power to imprison Ichigo inside the Garganta. As he tries to break free, Ichigo begins to hear, through his Soul Phone, the screams of the Soul Reapers falling to the enemy's onslaught.

Shigekuni Genryusai Yamamoto confronts Yhwach for the first time in a thousand years. As Yhwach finally draws his sword against Genryusai, the Soul Reapers notice an abnormal change taking place across the Seireitei.

Shigekuni Genryusai Yamamoto learns that the Yhwach he defeated was an impostor. The real Yhwach then reveals himself and easily kills Genryusai, sending a wave of shock and devastation across the Soul Reapers.

Rescue efforts are being made across the Seireitei to find and help those who've survived the Stern Ritter attack. Meanwhile, Ichigo meets with Mayuri Kurotsuchi about fixing his broken Tensa Zangetsu.

Squad Zero brings Ichigo back to the Royal Palace to prepare for the coming battle. Meanwhile, Kyoraku is appointed as the new Head Captain to lead the Thirteen Court Guard Squads.

Kenpachi Zaraki removes his eye patch to fight Retsu Unohana, a.k.a. Yachiru Unohana, “The First Kenpachi.” Meanwhile, Ichigo and Renji head to Hoohden to meet Oh-Etsu Nimaiya, the man who is said to have created the Zanpakuto.

Ichigo is kicked out of the Royal Palace by Oh-etsu Nimaiya for failing his test. When Ichigo next opens his eyes, he finds himself standing in front of his house in the World of the Living.

Squad 10 Captain Isshin Shiba of the Thirteen Court Guard Squads decides to not report his encounter with the Quincy named Masaki Kurosaki in the World of the Living to the Head Captain.

Ichigo learns that he is the child born of a Soul Reaper and a Quincy. Finally understanding the truth behind his heritage, Ichigo decides to return to Hoohden with a renewed resolve to finish what he has started.

Ichigo prepara-se para sair do Palácio Real e retornar à Seireitei, mas é parado por Hyosube, que lhe indica que não poderá derrotar Yhwach com os poderes que tem no momento.

Enquanto o Seireitei é completamente substituído pelo Wandenreich, a Gotei 13 é confrontada pelos Sternritter.

Mayuri recebe uma chamada do Urahara, que tinha ficado no Hueco Mundo para procurar uma maneira de recuperar as Bankais roubadas. Urahara confirma que conseguiu arranjar uma solução, baseando-se na informação ganha durante a sua batalha anterior com o Quilge.

A batalha começa a ser favorável para os Capitães após terem recuperado as suas Bankais roubadas. No entanto, os Stern Ritters libertam o seu Vollständig e encurralam os Ceifadores de Almas ainda mais.

Kensei Muguruma junta-se à batalha contra Masculine, que já derrotou Shuhei Hisagi, Ikkaku Madarame e Yumichika Ayasegawa. No entanto, Kensei fica surpreso com a fraqueza do seu oponente.

Rukia, destemida, usa a sua Sode no Shirayuki em batalha enquanto enfrenta Äs Nödt.

Isane e Yachiru estão a tratar dos feridos, Kensei e Rojuro, quando são atacados por Gwenael, um Quincy que não só possui a habilidade de desaparecer fisicamente, mas também pode apagar a sua existência da memória dos seus oponentes.

Kenpachi derrota Gremmy, mas o seu momento de vitória é interrompido quando ele é repentinamente atingido pelo ataque relâmpago de Candice. Meninas, Giselle e Liltotto também se juntam a Candice para derrubar Kenpachi, considerado uma Ameaça Especial.

Ichigo tenta parar Yhwach após se descobrir que o seu objetivo é o Palácio Real, mas é interrompido por Uryu. Yhwach, juntamente com Uryu e Haschwalth, conseguem assim dirigir-se para o Palácio Real.

Ikkaku, Yumichika e os Arrancars juntam-se para combater os zombis de Giselle. Mas o grupo fica chocado quando Giselle revela o seu próximo zombi, o Capitão Hitsugaya do Esquadrão 10.

Yhwach finalmente entra no Palácio Real. Acompanhado por Haschwalth e Uryu, o Rei Quincy prepara-se para avançar em direção ao Palácio Maior, quando é parado por Senjumaru Shutara da Divisão Zero.

Yhwach escapa da jaula que cerca o falso Palácio Real da Divisão Zero para enfrentar Hyosube, que está a proteger o verdadeiro Palácio Real.

Yhwach ativa Auswählen para conceder poder aos seus Guardas Reais derrotados e ativar as suas formas Vollständig. O que se segue é uma batalha feroz entre os Guardas Reais e a Divisão Zero.
