Discuss Scene of the Crime

Hi there,

I'm still kinda new here, so please bear with me if I'm asking something that should be obvious wink I was wondering what the reason/rule is behind using "Episode 1/2/3" etc. in the field for the "Translated Name (English)"? (example ) I was hoping to be able to add a "better" title to make it easier to find the right episode in the season overview, for example. So I looked through the "contribution bible" for TV and found this:

The translated episode name field should be left blank [if] there is no official translation.

Since I'm guessing there isn't really an "official" translation for Tatort episodes (and if there was, I suppose it wouldn't be "Episode 1"...), wouldn't that mean that the translated/English title field should be left blank? Or am I missing something? Would it break something somewhere else if I were to remove the "translated name"?

Are there any other options regarding the English titles? The guidelines forbid manually translated titles, right? Or does someone know of an "official source" for translated episode titles?

Best, Vince

Ah, so I figured out that I can enter German as a "fallback language" in my profile and then it shows the German titles. Nice. thumbsup

But my question about the "Translated Name (English)" remains. Why isn't it empty? Or is it empty and the system automatically enters "Episode #" in an empty field?

And is there any sanctioned way to help/convince/trick other websites that use only the English data (*cough* Trakt rolling_eyes ) to show a more useful title than "Episode 1"? Are there any allowed edits on this site that could help with that?

Cheers, Vince
