I remember the 'early' closing down. Needham might be London based but IMDb was based/located on the West Coast (Seattle). It was bad enough that they killed the boards but it was a real slap in the face to shut the boards down 8 hours early! Some of us were still getting our fellow board members (in my case, the poll board) to leave their email addresses or ways to keep in contact. Thankfully we did get most of the member's details, although there were a few that didn't connect up in time, so they are forever lost.

I remember I was copying and pasting some of my comments from throughout the years from off various IMDb boards (thinking all IMDb posting was going to vanish completely from the internet), and thought there would still be five more hours left - though IMDb pulled the plug at what wound up being 7p.m. on the 19th, my time. Fortunately most past posting didn't wind up going down with the ship after all, as a couple sites archived much (though far from all) of what was on the past boards.

I miss various people who I used to interact with on the IMDb boards, who'd post on the boards for miscellaneous old movies and the actors/actresses thereof. I've never seen any of those posters turn up either here or anywhere else, since then. I suspect many were probably older folks, who didn't know where to go from IMDb, so just completely gave up posting anywhere. It's a shame.

The various movie/t.v. boards here are gradually getting posting on them, and things are looking pretty good at this point. Still lots more to go - though it's getting better all the time. In recent months the Celebrity boards have been getting much more varied use than had been the case. Hopefully more threads will keep turning up there. That's been one of my favourite focus areas in recent months.

I still have the links that were suggested by my 'fellow' board members but didn't really like the other places. I'm not a big fan of this place at times but...?

As for the celebrity boards, here's hoping that people will realize that there are other boards besides Beyonce & Henry Cavill (although he is a hunk!).

I kept an eye on the competing sites for a while, but lost interest in their activity eventually.

Yep: It would be great if people here would post more on some boards for their fave actors/actresses, etc. A great thing about the Celebrity category of boards is that there's pretty much one for seemingly everyone (even non-actors/actresses, for example famous authors and playwrights from both throughout history and currently, famous composers, athletes, etc., as a famous or otherwise "known" person can have a TMDb profile page - even if dead since sometime during the 1800s or earlier - as long as they've appeared listed in the credit for at least one movie, t.v. show, documentary, special, filmed/taped concert, talk show, etc. at any point).
