For me it's Kate Winslet. THAT monologue Gervais gives at the prayer meeting - cornered by the friendly but stern Catholic priest and digging himself deeper and deeper as he tries and fails to lie about why he's there. 'I've been been touched by God... not in that way'. Endlessly rewatchable genius.
Always preferred this to The Office. Damn shame he and Merchant seem to have split.

Re-watching this again and some really funny scenes. Kate Winslet was great but I always thought Patrick Stewart's one was the best, and I still do.
I'd also say The Office is still streets ahead because the non-celebrity bits were too cringing and OTT. However, the ending with Maggie crying in front of the TV was really touching and it was a great way to end the show. Although one thing I always didn't like was how Andy's smug nemesis never got his comeuppance.
