Probably not. The way Dan was thinking at the time he probably would have just murdered Deb. Even after he found out he killed the wrong person he tried strangling Deb.

Would anyone ask her to die so Keith could live? His death wouldn't have happen if it wasn't for her protection.

What do you mean, Are you talking about Dan? Dan had many who cared about him despite the imperfect relationship he had with them. Whitey, Deb, Karen, Keith, Nathan and eventually Lucas gave him chances to change but it just couldn't happen because of how Dan is, but again that's no reason to suspect that he's capable of murder. He was a A-Hole sure but he was never a murderer until he was pushed into that really dark place after the whole fire incident at the dealership and seeing his brother in bed with Deb.
