Why doesn't the enterprise carry extra dilithium crystals on board it seems that would be handy certainly in a combat situation wouldn't you think?

Another question is would gays also be affected by the the drug these women were taking?

Yes, that's something that's been brought up before, including on imdb by me. It was the same problem with "Elaan Of Troyius" too, for example. There's been no suggestion that dilithium crystals are somehow toxic or expire or anything. Also they seem to have a shortage of spare parts for the transporter, etc.

In a more realistic sense, though, that's one of the things I didn't buy about the Enterprise series, especially the whole "Xindi" business. I don't think they could have repaired all the major structural damage to the ship. Spare parts, yes. But I don't see them carrying spare bulkheads etc.

As a matter of fact they steal some of the parts they needed by boarding that ship they come across and ,they get help from Degra's men and also they are helped by their future selves so that was actually explained, also the NX-01 seems to carry spare parts and extra Warp coils and antimatter,so at least in that series they thought about it and when they get damaged they do get damaged and in the next episode the damage isn't suddenly there anymore unlike Voyager.

@I thought they were a rarity hence costly.

In some places miners worked hard in harsh conditions to extract them ..in other places workers have to set up complexed automated lithium cracking plants..a costly method.

Knowing Starfleet ships carry a generous amount of extra dilihium crystals could make them potential targets .

These days anything is possible😎

These days anything is possible😎

Now that would imply they are bi-sexual not gay.

@ to Nexus.

There is no way to know because scientist still haven't discovered why some people are attracted to people of their own sex and not to their opposites.

ONE set of spare crystals is all they would have really needed to have on hand. Or even just a partial set. For "Mudd's Women" for example, and apparently for "The Alternate Factor" too and for "Elaan," they had NONE. And having just one set, or a few spares, wouldn't have made the ship all that much more of a target than what they had to have just to operate. Rigel 12 didn't seem to be much of a target either, or they must have had constant protection by ships. Which would also have likely meant the Enterprise wouldn't have had to wait for replacements.

Enterprise NX-01 stole only the warp coil from the alien ship.

Degra's ship didn't have room for a lot of "raw metal" etc either. And no implication that the Xindi had replicators.

Yeah but they did receive help from Degra's men plus it was mentioned that the NX-01 can alter human waste into all kinds of stuff so maybe there is where they get the material from plus Degra is a technical engineer so we can assume he knows a thing or two about spaceships Also NX-01 comes across a "copy" of itself from the future so who's to know in what fashion they helped NX-01. And like I said it's not Voyager"where they are "lost in space" and should have very little support and energy or and at least should be conservative in using iresources. But still the Voyager manages getting damaged in one episode and in the next episode it's hunky dory like nothing has happened. With ENT we at least see that getting damaged in one episode means that the ship will be affected in the episode(s) after that. The damage in ENT has consequences while in VOY it has not.

I don't think Degra's ships or the others carried sufficient raw materials for significant repairs. I would say it's like what happened with the USS Cole, it was taken back to Norfolk shipyards for repairs on a "hauler" type of ship that actually made the Cole look rather puny by comparison.

You could say that a starship would be more likely to carry along extra supplies etc, but remember, they didn't have spare antimatter injectors, they didn't even have enough deuterium for a long voyage (ENT episode "Marauders").

They were near the planet were the weapon was constructed so they might have gotten materials from there. But besides that ,that is what I mean with information we don't really want or need to know about ,we want the story to continue it's no entertaining for viewers to be bothered with logistical and construction issues. My point was that with ENT it was one the first Trek series where damage done to ship hadn't just suddenly vanished with the next episode it showed that damage had consequences and wasn't resolved during a single episode plus they actually let the viewers see the ship being repaired during the course of various episodes.

All excellent questions and discussions. My 2 cents worth: Mudd would never have been able to contact the miners without Uhura detecting it. A communicator wouldn't have the range, forthat matter.

Maybe Uhura is bi-sexual Jet and is she also affected by the venus drug? wink
