Of course, Roddenberry wanted it to be Yorktown. But just think. If they had used anything other than Enterprise, the "I, Mudd" episode would have had to be changed.

@Jetfire59 I couldn't resist posting that. However, in a Star Trek novel, there was a Starship called the USS John F. Kennedy, and on Star Trek Discovery they had a Starship named the USS Glenn (I'm assuming that it was named for John Glenn).
