I keep hearing references to this star trek continues thing on here. I'm a little bit out of the loop with some of these series. I watched the star trek phase 2 thing years ago but the time it took for them to come out with each episode was so ridiculous I just stopped caring. My question is, how does this star trek continues compare to the phase 2 series?

They are very similar but STC was better. Better production and better acting, I'd have to say, but they both had the similar spirit of old TOS with a couple of exceptions. Phase II was more uneven.

One of my favourite episodes of "Star Trek Continues" is "Fairest of Them All".
It's the fan-produced sequel to STOS "Mirror, Mirror".

Is Axanar still going to be made because a while back I read they were busy with that ,whether in the form of a movie or series.

Sadly, CBS now has the law on their side and any fan-based productions are severely restricted and have to abide to new guidelines.
After the settlement it's unclear if the producers of_"Prelude to Axanar (2014)"_ will continue as originally planned.
They have certainly not given up:

But I also saw a clip by the same guy from december 8th where he talks that they are still going to make it Axanar, but if CBS had been smart they should have settled for an agreement with the guys making Axanar and should have used their writers and production team to produce an Axanar series which is probably far cheaper than Discovery plus CBS would be making a series most Trekkies actually want to see and probably are more likely to subscribe to CBS access ,and since CBS now has to pay the vast majority of the production budget it would make sense moneywise.

"Star Trek Continues" can still be viewed.

May that is because a lot of Star Trek actors and actresses are in it and CBS deemed it wise not to piss them off.

Star Trek Continues could get a little preachy at times, but it did well at capturing the feel of the original series. It was a labor of love and definitely the best fan made presentation out there.

I rather like Star Trek Continues. It's definitely one of the better Star Trek fan film/series on YouTube. Another favorite fan film/series on YouTube right now is a series about the USS Intrepid. It's made by a bunch of Scottish Star Trek fans. One of the things that I love about Intrepid is that every character in each episode, regardless of whether they are playing humans, alien races, etc. has a Scottish accent. I love watching Klingons speaking English with a Scottish accent.

I suppose they don't notice things like that in Scotland, but everywhere else in the world the watchers are laughing themselves silly.
