Die Pilotfolge ist eine Low-Budget-Vor-Produktion-Test-Folge, erstellt von Michael Dante DiMartino und Bryan Konietzko mit Unterstützung der koreanischen Animationsstudio Tin House.

Am 18. November 2005 wurde eine etwa 12-minütige Zusammenfassung namens „The Legend So Far“ in den USA ausgestrahlt, darunter etwa eine Minute an Vorschauclips der letzten drei Episoden dieser Staffel. Die Geschichte der 17 bereits ausgestrahlten Episoden wurde von Avatar Roku nacherzählt. Die Zusammenfassung ist auch bekannt als „Jump on to 18“ und wurde unter dem Titel am 15. Oktober 2006 auf Deutsch erstausgestrahlt. Als Erzähler ist Horst Lampe zu hören, der deutsche Sprecher von Avatar Roku. 2010 erschien die Zusammenfassung auf einer Video-CD auf Deutsch.

Eine etwa 10-minütige Zusammenfassung der kompletten zweiten Staffel namens „The Legend Continues“, darunter ein etwa 2-minütiger Trailer zur dritten Staffel, wurde am 15. September 2007, vor der Ausstrahlung von Staffel drei, in den USA ausgestrahlt. Die Handlung wurde von Mae Whitman in ihrer Rolle als Katara nacherzählt. Auf Deutsch ist die Zusammenfassung 2010 auf einer Video-CD erschienen und als Erzähler ist Horst Lampe zu hören, der Sprecher von Avatar Roku.

Sokka baut sich im Nebligen Sumpf einen Wasserfilter, der prompt von Aang, der auf Sumpfskiern vorbeirast, zerstört wird. Daraufhin wird Sokka von Tho und Due selbst zum Sumpfskifahren zwangsbeglückt, was ihn ziemlich fertigmacht.

Aang, Katara, Toph und Zuko streiten sich, was das beste Element sei, und prahlen dabei mit ihren Bändigungskünsten, schwer zu Leiden Sokkas.

Roku kündigt in der Schule den Ball des goldenen Drachen an, was alle Schüler in helle Aufregung versetzt. Während sich Suki und Yue um Sokka streiten, sucht Aang nach einem Weg, Katara für sich zu gewinnen und alle anderen Verehrer zu übertrumpfen.

Der animierte Comic erzählt, wie Aang nach der tödlichen Blitzattacke von Azula in Ba-Sing Se in der Geisterwelt gefangen ist. Er begegnet Prinzessin Yue, dem Mondgeist, die ihm erklärt, dass der Avatar-Zyklus für immer enden wird, wenn er es nicht schafft, die Verbindung zu vier seiner früheren Leben wiederherzustellen...
