Sixteen chefs compete in the premiere of the eighth season of Hell's Kitchen. Chef Ramsay divides the chefs into teams of women and men, and their first challenge is to create their signature dishes. An early injury sends one chef to the hospital. Massive delays during dinner service lead customers to exit Hell's Kitchen.

Chefs created a menu of an appetizer and two main dishes for a high school prom. The winning team went to an amusement park, while the losing team cleaned the kitchens and helped the prom committee put up decorations.

Chef Ramsay tests the chefs' teamwork by thrusting them into a challenge requiring them to cook three appetizers in thirty minutes in turns, with only 15 seconds to communicate in-between switching. The winning team is rewarded with a shopping spree at a cooking store, while the losing team is placed on delivery duty.

The remaining seven chefs compete in their first dinner service as a merged team. Chef Ramsay does something he's never, ever done before at elimination time.

The remaining six chefs compete in the twelve episode of the eighth season of Hell's Kitchen. Chef Ramsay becomes infuriated during dinner service when the remaining chefs put in a performance not worthy of the final six.

Only four chefs remain, and the pressure is on for each contestant to prove to Chef Ramsay that he or she has the chops to move forward in the competition. The challenge: create a balanced fusion dish. The judges: Top L.A. chefs Philip Dubose (Asia de Cuba), Helene An (Crustacean) and Lee Hefter (Spago). Then, at dinner service, tempers flare and Chef Ramsay must intervene.

In the Season 8 finale, the final two chefs must prepare five-course meals to be judged by five L.A.-area executive chefs and food-service executives. The winner receives a head-chef position at LA Market at the JW Marriott Hotel in Los Angeles.
