Batgirl (true identity: Barbara Gordon) is one of my favourite characters. Beautiful, elegant, smart and intelligent, she was a positive role model for young girls everywhere. 
The lovely actress and former ballerina Yvonne Craig did a wonderful job portraying Batgirl. Her high kicks were unbelievably stylish.
She appeared in the third and last season of the show and made quite an impression on our fearless Caped Crusader and his 'Holy' Boy Wonder.
How could Batman and Robin have ever fought those dastardly villains without her?

Brilliant, as ever, wonder2wonder! Great tribute! Nine years before Yvonne Craig joined the cast of Batman, as the daughter of Commissioner Gordon (actor Neil Hamilton), and incognito as Batgirl of course, both appeared together in a season 1 episode of Perry Mason (number 35 - The Case of the Lonely Lover - 1958) in much the same relationship (step-father and step-daughter)! I wonder (pun intended) if they chatted between takes about their previous roles?
