Discuss The Brothers Sun

For instance mother is not Taiwanese/Chinese, but Malaysian and you will find in show such nonsense as of course Chinese family is watching pandas in TV (who the heck watches some pandas on TV) and they think if they throw there youtiao and bunch of Chinese stuff, this will suddenly becomes non-american TV show. Not sure where is director Wu from, but I really doubt he is from China/Taiwan if he produces such crap without any idea about Taiwan/China (so most likely some American), even the Fresh off the boat was less racist towards Chinese than this racist TV show (actually FOB was quite racist towwards white, but that's for different discussion).

5/10 It's hardly watchable and it was cancelled for reason, I stopped watching thisc rap after 2 episodes.

Michelle Yeoh is of Hokkien ( Han Chinese subgroup) and Cantonese ancestry, born in Malaysia.

The main actors Justin Chien (Charles), Johnny Kou (Big Sun) and Jenny Yang (Xing ) were born in Taiwan; Sam Song Li (Bruce), Alice Hewkin (twin sisters June and May) in China; Michelle Yeoh (Eileen) has already been mentioned; other minor actors, playing Asian characters, were born, also in China or Taiwan, or somewhere else, and have Chinese ancestry.

Byron Wu is Asian-American. The series is set mainly in Los Angeles: the Asian family life there, the gangs, scenes of ladies playing Mahjong, Ka Spa in Koreatown, etc.. Other writers are Justin Calen-Chenn (Taiwanese-American), Amy Wang (Chinese-Australian), Andrew Law (Chinese-American), Jason Ning, Soojeong Son, and Ally Seibert. The only writer without Chinese ancestry is Brad Falchuk.

The pandas on the television (in the background) might have been news about Mei Xiang, Tian Tian and their cub Xiao Qi Ji, who were set to return last year to China, after the 50-year-old exchange agreement struck by President Nixon ended.

The series was okay, although I didn't like some of the slow motion action scenes or the background music. The opening with the GBBO on the telly while Charles is dispatching the assassins, and then at the end, you can see the contestant's cake's higher tier topple off and the last attacker fall on the table simultaneiously, and then Charles running to the oven, and finding his cake burned, was fun to watch. There was no cliffhanger at the end, so I didn't mind the cancellation.
