Discuss The Care Bears

Item: The Care Bears

Language: en-US

Type of Problem: Incorrect_content

Extra Details: It seems to me that the seasons splits and the first broadcast dates are wrong for this series, based on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Care_Bears_episodes , but I don't have access ro original TV data to confirm or infirm the Wikipedia data.

I started with the first three seasons, and the data is not as bad as I originally thought. The English overviews are mostly in the right order even though the English titles and air dates are all over the place. It also doesn't help that a contributor added mismatching German translations and incorrect changed some of the good air dates.

I think that the initial problem have been caused by the bad season numbering on IMDB:

  • They number 1, 2 and 3 the 3 seasons made by Nelvana.

  • They number 5 the season made by DiC Entertainment that was broadcasted before in 1985.

I have finished the work with the 4th season.

But, I have 2 small questions :

  • About the episode that aired on September 27, 1988 : On Wikipedia, this episode is titled "Caring for Spring/The Care Bear Bulidings Of The Jobs" (which give the impression that there are 2 segments), but everywhere else (IMDB, TheTVDB (with different dates), French Wikipedia) this episode is only titled "Caring for Spring"(only one segment). What is correct ?

  • About the last episode : On the episodes list page, they indicate a broadcast in 3 parts on November 23 to 25, 1988 followed by a broadcast in one single part on December 10 (in the US) or 25 (in Canada), 1988, but on the dedicated page, they are only speaking of the one part broadcast. What is correct ?

I will now add the French titles... Done

"Caring for Spring/The Care Bear Bulidings Of The Jobs" (which give the impression that there are 2 segments)

I'm pretty sure it's bad data. It has incorrect spelling/capitalization and doesn't make any sense.

All I can say is that there seem to be some TV airing before Dec 10. thinking

It seems that air dates for season 4 are not correct. The Big Cartoon Database has very good information for the show:

https://www.bcdb.com/cartoons/Other_Studios/N/Nelvana_Limited/The_Care_Bears_Family/

Taking in account that there are multiple dates list available, we will need an official source to determine which one is correct.

The Big Cartoon Database has the most up to date information for cartoons. The Care Bears Family show was broadcasted on ABC on Saturdays at 8:00 am (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1987%E2%80%9388_United_States_network_television_schedule_(daytime)). April 30, 1988 (air date for episode 1 of season 4) is a Saturday. September 12, 1988 is a Monday. If we were strict this entry should be split in two different shows: Care Bares (with a single season in 1985) produced by DIC and a second show, The Care Bears Family (1986 -1988) produced by Nelvana.
