The original family Marshall returns home in this last episode of the season.

They discover a time doorway in a cave, where they could see (an alternate of ) themselves going over the waterfall again and again into nothingness.


Enik explained this paradox to them.

Enik: "In actuality you should have been killed in the waterfalls. The time doorway cannot be used for anything until this paradox is resolved. You are here. You are there. Both at the same time. I have a tentative solution. If I can prevent you from being transported here, then all will be normal again."

To get back:

Enik: "I have said: an equal mass must enter here for you to leave, three people..."

That meant that for the original family to leave, the other (alternate) family they're seeing at that moment must enter the doorway. The doorway has to be be unlocked and then they and Enik could leave.


Enik knew how to accomplish that, but he didn't want to do it, because he thought it was wrong to tamper with the lives of others. Rick didn't have those qualms and he got Enik to give him that information.

Enik: "Remove a white crystal from the wall. Place it on the table. The doorway will open. The raft will fall."

So, that's what Rick did. The doorway is unlocked and the original Marshalls go through it. The paradox is resolved.

"Enik: "You must go through to complete the resolution of the paradox. If three people enter the land, then three people must leave, even if it is the same three. Those three on the waterfall, they are suspended between two worlds until you go through the doorway. You must go home."

After they've left, the doorway shows another family Marshall just arriving in their raft in the Land of the Lost. They are atttacked by a Tyrannosaurus rex and run away.

It's episode one all over again. They've come full circle. This (alternate) family will now continue their adventures in season two.

Enik: "The cycle is now complete. I can go home, to my time."

It seems like there is still some kind of paradox.

The original family Marshall has returned to their raft, going over the waterfall.
