Edit: Which means, all the backdrops for the show have to be removed eventually ...

Thats pretty dumb if you ask me. This show has only been released with the watermark. Even the DVD. So goodluck finding screencaps without it...

What about the official website "history.com"?!? I live in Germany, and I can't access the official page for the show directly (I assume because the show is only for the USA). However, when I search via the WaybackMachine, I find this (I'm not sure if the second url works):
Every episode has a clean backdrop. With a few tricks, I can get the backdrop url -> for example, here's the image for season 4, episode 1:

It would be really hard work, but that's where we could get "clean" backdrops from.
