The reviews for the first episode are stellar (almost unreasonably so, 93%? Seriously?), but I couldn't sit through it. Too many questions that appear to be on a slow burn towards answering (unless they were answered in the first episode and I quit before getting to them).
Clearly, I'm missing what people are liking about this show. I absolutely loved The Walking Dead through the fall of the prison; liked it through the termination of Terminus; followed intermittently through to the defeat of Negan; had had enough with the introduction of the Kingdom; I dug how the Whisperers were introduced, but just couldn't maintain interest through that story arc. (and there's plenty of discussion about the show over on its message board, sorry to digress even this far here).
I say all that to say, I don't know if I identify with the brand anymore, if the writing might harken back to what it was in seasons 1-3 or if it is just more of the shlock of which I grew tired.
On the other hand, it is not uncommon for me to come to like - even love - movies that I previously dismissed out of hand (Blade, The Matrix, and Pulp Fiction are all movies of which I said "meh, not interested" when they first came out...but would eventually become a big part of my faves collection). I've been wrong before (I'm only human!) Could that be the case here?
If anyone who saw it and enjoyed it cares to share what they're enjoying, I'd appreciate any help you can provide.
