Extra Details: Right now, there are two different ways of organizing Horizon:

by the year (what TVDB does)
by the series (what Wikipedia does [1])

TMDB, however, appears to have a mixture of both of the above, which is supremely confusing. 1964 through 2009 appears to do yearly episodes (like TVDB), but then 2009 splits into 2009-2010 (TMDB season 47) and that continues through TMDB season 52 (2014-2015) before switching back to year-based seasons with TMDB season 53 (2016).

I suspect the "right" way to do this in TMDB would be by series (i.e., how IMDB) does it, but that'll require a healthy bit of moving episodes between seasons, which I don't have access to do (or, at least, I don't know how).

How should we fix this?

This was explained in a previous report (TMDb always try to follow the original release):

The most recent seasons (Season 2009-2010 and up) now follow the official website. As far as I can tell from the web archives, the current system (with proper seasons and numerated episodes) was introduced around mid-February 2009. The old website didn't have any seasons nor episode numbers. Therefore, I decided to use the yearly splits for the earlier episodes. I think it makes the most sense AND it was easier as it is the split we currently use.
