Las tropas aterrizan en un planeta desértico, donde un grupo de Skinnies humanoides resulta extrañamente hospitalario. En poco tiempo, un grupo de enormes rastreros se mueve para atacar.

Johnny Rico y su equipo están enfadados porque se han asociado con el sospechoso T'Phai para luchar contra una plaga de bichos alienígenas en la playa de Zegema. The Roughnecks find themselves on a large asteroid after their craft, the Zephyr, crashes. Troopers Carmen, Rico, Flores, T'Phai, and company then set out to find a powerful toxin that could be their savior in their battle with the giant bugs that threaten to take over the universe. However, when an investigation leads them to the discovery that the asteroid is infested with the hideous creatures, the Roughnecks' chances for survival begin to look smaller and smaller.

A bug queen is heading to earth, and the roughnecks must destroy her. They believe that they have accomplished the mission, but Carl discovers something much more sinister.
