Discuss The Pacific

Since many of us are migrating here from IMDB, much to TMDB's immense pleasure, I'm sure, I will be the first to start the same discussion: BoB or TP, which is better, or do you like both?

As for me, I love both but regard them as being quite different, and realizing that this is ok. I love the feel of BoB and that you get to know the group so well. TP is more disjointed in this area, but with repeat viewings I did get to know a few people.

Action is great in both but so much more intense in TP. I might even argue that the acting in TP is better, but ONLY because you spend more time with less characters, so they do actually have more to do. I am not trying to say anything negative at all about the acting in BoB, which was excellent, but again I think the main stars in TP had a bit more to do as the script focused on them.

I saw both of these mini-series late, saw BOB towards the end of last year and just wrapped up TP...I'll say I liked BOB just a bit more, but just because its a subject I've read about more....I definitely learned some things from TP to say the least.

The acting was great on both, but still think BOB's character were much better rounded and easier to get attached to. My hats off on the last episode of TP, the aftermath after the war...and how soldiers had NO idea what they were going to do...I'm sure that happens to most soldiers even today.

I don't check this site that often, so I'm surprised I happened to check today with your response. I may like BoB just a bit better, but do remember that all of these people were based off of real characters. My issue is that TP felt a bit more unfocused, but it had to. BoB followed one company, so more people could be featured, but each time I watch it, I get to know and recognize some of the characters with smaller parts in the show. TP is the same, but the focus is more narrowed. However, the battles in TP outdo anything in BoB, and I thought the main 3 characters all did excellent jobs.
