Main Season 1 aka miniseries only has 3 episodes and I have no clue where this comes from. Furthermore adding episodes isn't possible so what's going on here? TVDB (https://www.thetvdb.com/series/the-beatles-anthology/seasons/1) and IMDb (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0111893/episodes?season=1&ref_=tt_eps_sn_1) list them correctly so why are they all fucked up here in TheMovieDB? 🤨

I agree with Sodapop73, there are missing 5 episodes.
In every DB you will find the 8 episodes, the 10 hours how explained in the German translation of the description:
It was broadcast on UK television in six parts on ITV between 26 November and 31 December 1995, while in the United States it was seen as three feature-length episodes on ABC between 19 and 23 November 1995.[1] It was released in greatly expanded form as an eight-volume VHS set and an eight-disc Laserdisc set on 5 September 1996. The series was re-released on DVD in 2003, with an 81-minute special-features disc.

TMDb currently only supports the original version. There is no way for us to list all three versions.

so should we start a new 8-part collection? Netflix shows all 8 episodes too.

Duplicates are not allowed. Please do not create a new entry, we'll have to remove it.

I did -
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Beatles_Anthology_(TV_series)#Episodes
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0111893/episodes
Everywhere it is listed as 8 episodes. You should allow us to either add the missing episodes or support a new season that can contain them. If you need to have only 3 episodes in your collection, you can rename your files to be s01e01, s01e03, and s01e06 or whatever their corresponding episodes might be.
This is blocking people for no reason.

The first sentence of your Wikipedia link read:
"The Beatles Anthology is a documentary television series on the career of the Beatles. It was broadcast on UK television in six parts on ITV between 26 November and 31 December 1995, while in the United States it was seen as three feature-length episodes on ABC between 19 and 23 November 1995.[1] It was released in greatly expanded form as an eight-volume VHS set and an eight-disc Laserdisc set on 5 September 1996."
This means that the initial broadcast of this series took place in 3 parts format in the US between 19 and 23 novembre 1995.
We always list the series as they have been originally broadcasted.

@superboy97 While it might've been first broadcast in the US, the original production is British (see - Country of origin: United Kingdom from the selfsame link), which would indicate to me that the only reason why the UK aired it later is to save it for the holiday season, and no actual indication that the US version was the canonical cut. Also, if that is the case, why are the special features that are only included on the 8-part home video release included in this TMDB page? They were only available later.
Furthermore, one of the main purposes of TMDB is as a scraper to help people organize their home media collection. And as the quote you yourself provided indicates, it was released as an 8 part set of home video, which is how most people are likely to encounter it. TMDB is not an archive of TV Guide listings, but a catalog of existing media. No one who is consuming The Beatles Anthology in the year 2022 will be doing so in 3 parts unless they inherited some old home video recordings from 1996.
Different ordering or airing dates could be addressed in the Episode Grouping feature. There's no reason to not allow for the inclusion of the way more widely accepted breakdown of episodes here. Let's be accommodating instead of pedantic.
If this is a listing that is solely for the original ABC broadcast, you should then allow for the creation of another listing for the DVD edition as those differ significantly, and move the special features to that listing as well because they don't belong here by your own logic.

Exactly. The policy of listing only one episode ordering per show limits the usability and usefulness of the whole TV series database.

Episode groups can only address diffferent broadcast order with the same number of episodes. We have no way to address different broadcast with a different episodes cut.
We list all our series based on the first broadcast.
We don't allow duplicate series.
The special features can be listed here as they are supplementary elements.

Scentless_apprentice is spot on!
TMDb is really wrong here. The Beatles Anthology should – without a doubt – be listed as 8 episodes. Why? Because the series has 8 episodes. Why is this even a discussion? Yes, the US originally aired as 3 episodes and in Europe it was 6, but the official version – both on VHS and DVD – has 8 episodes.
You are sending off an obtuse vibe here, TMDb. With all due respect, of course.
