All the designers surprised me with how good their collections were, except Brandon, who gave me exactly what I expected. I think the judges got it right. Kentaro created real drama with his show. Ayana is doing something that hasn't been done before in high fashion.

If I were going to nitpick, I would have put Margarita ahead of Brandon. Her collection was the biggest surprise for how much I liked it. I wouldn't wear it but I liked it. Brandon's had interesting shapes but too little fabric variation.

The tell all should be good if the previews are any indication.

After seeing the fashion show my final 2 picks were Kentaro and Ayana and I knew one of them would win. I really loved Kentaro's showing with his own music composition playing- that was just beautiful. Even though his collection was not my own style- it was beautiful and like Jessica Alba said, it was poetic. I would actually wear many of Ayana's pieces (the pants, top and jackets) and though not to my tastes- her wedding dress was gorgeous.

Brandon had gotten so over confident- he was just too positive he was going to win. Like Heidi? said his creations were ALL basically the same pattern, color, style, shape and eye hooks.

I do think some of Kentaro's fashions have lost their beauty in the JC Penney translation. The red shirt looks cheap and bag like:

https://www.jcpenney.com/g/project-runway-women/N-bwo3xZ1z0llxt?cm_re=HP-DT-_-ZC1117-_-project-runway

The reunion show looks to be full of confrontations and tears- I will be watching.

Yeah, Kentaro doesn't translate well to JC Penny. As for Brandon, I don't think he received enough critical feedback throughout the season from the judges. Didn't one of his competitors say that? In the long run that didn't do him any favors. I agree, probably overconfident.

I would wear some of Ayanas pieces too. I loved her tunic, and also the pants with the skirt over them.

I agree Brandon didn't get enough critical feedback. How many times have we seen designers called out when they do roughly the same thing week after week. Yet Brandon was skipped through with constant praise. I think he had some interesting shapes and concepts, though not to my taste. But they all seemed to look the same to me. The final collection really illustrated that. I could see having the same fabric throughout, but it needs to vary from the main focus of the piece to small touches and trims. (Though even that would be a bit much.)

[moving my post from the other thread]

YAY I just finished watching and am surprised but so happy Kentaro won! I was rooting for him all along, lol. For whatever reason I didn't think he would win all season. I did get an inkling though tonight just seeing how happy they all were with it during the judges' critique. But still. I thought Ayana would have been the more obvious choice or whatever. Yay! The fact I'm all happy I guess shows how much I wanted him to win lol..I didn't think I cared that much. I did really love some of his pieces (like that cut out black shirt, and that other white...sort of, romper thing with the black legs?) And he was always humble and artistic and stuck to his dead cat concepts and it paid off. Why were they sooo surprised he was good? I feel like he was always good.

Side note, come the f--- on producers. Did they need to show his dad tripping off the stage at the end? That was totally unnecessary humiliation they easily could have edited out. That was a low blow and pissed me off. Very disrespectful.

And, aw, I felt bad for Brandon. Maybe Tim should have told him not to use the patio flamingos in EVERY piece? I mean, the judges' complaint is basically what we'd all been saying on here. Or maybe Tim did tell him and they edited it out? If not, way to totally drop the ball, Tim! Either way, I feel bad because he really thought he was going to get it. aww, I didn't like seeing him cry. [add on after seeing these]: I also agree that he didn't get enough constructive criticism throughout. They didn't push him, they just told him that everything he touched was magic. So why wouldn't he think he'd win? I felt sad for him

But yay Kentaro. I feel Kentaro got lost/stuck when he was between trying to do what he wanted and what the judges wanted (in other challenges). As far as colorful, etc. So I kind of like that he thought he was going to lose and was just like "screw it I'll do exactly what I please" and then they were all awed. Mmmhm

I second that.

I wasn't really surprised after seeing the fashion show, but I am glad he won too thumbsup !

I couldn't believe that either, I was like WHY show that?

And, aw, I felt bad for Brandon.

He had actually been my favorite right up until he created that fashion flamingo fiasco.

Maybe Tim should have told him not to use the patio flamingos in EVERY piece?

Exactly this.

He really was really bawling too. Sure, he got too over confident because they didn't give him enough or any constructive criticism.

But yay Kentaro. I feel Kentaro got lost/stuck when he was between trying to do what he wanted and what the judges wanted (in other challenges).

This thumbsup The judges constant criticisms had been throwing his artistic idea's off.

As far as colorful, etc. So I kind of like that he thought he was going to lose and was just like "screw it I'll do exactly what I please" and then they were all awed. Mmmhm

Exactly!

The judges disagree with each other, they say one thing and then will change it in other situations.

And since Tim used his save on Margarita , and he told Kenya to use that beaded cover up -which the judges did not like with the dress , and he did not tell Brandon not to use the patio flamingos in EVERY piece - can Tim's judgements/ critiques really be trusted anymore? I would do the exact opposite of what Tim says.

Scorpion, good, I'm glad you agree about how tasteless showing Kentaro's dad fall was. That still makes me mad!

And Brandon, I always liked him as far as his personality (and Kentaro, too). And though I'm not sure I'd wear his stuff, I did think he was always consistent and good and I liked his straps and creativity. I don't feel he really got too cocky or confident, even. He was really shy/insecure at the start and then the judges are fainting at how amazing everything he does is, so what else was he supposed to think? They kinda led him on and dropped him cold, lol. I think the editing was done for dramatic effect too, to emphasize his confidence. Like quick cut "I know I'll win!" Whereas Ayana, who also thought she was going to win, didn't have quite the same editing. He never bothered me. And even the pre-collection viewing, all they did was praise it. They didn't say "By the way, there's going to be other fabric besides the flamingos, right?" (that we saw). It just seems like they worshiped everything he did and then at the last minute were like "LOL JK." Something about how all that went down doesn't sit right with me.

Maybe Tim was trying to sabotage him by not giving him any good advice. lol. He never pointed out there was no "wow" piece, either. I was confused by him this season. Why was he hating on Kentaro's stuff so much, for instance? It seemed sorta cohesive as far as black and white and red and being structural... the whole thing was just weird. And I felt he weirdly overly pumping up Kenya, too, even though she didn't seem quite at the level of the others, yet... he had to see that, right?

And why did the show focus on Margarita so much? I felt like she got so much air time. She wasn't even wackadoodle-entertaining like the twins. She just kind of complained a lot. I got a bit tired of hearing her opinion on everything. Which isn't her fault either...I'm sure they all say a lot with their one-on-one interviews...but why edit it to keep showing hers?

I thought the worst look of the event was Heidi's bright purple mullet dress. To use her own words, she looked like a hoochie mama. An 80's hoochie mama. Too deep a plunge with a dress that short. She does have legs for days, though.

He couldn't see that he couldn't work from one or two pieces of fabric? He practically made a whole collection off of flamingo prints. I think he was feeling himself too much and drank his own Koolaide. I don't think there would have been much anyone could tell him, if he couldn't see the obvious.

I would wear some of Ayanas pieces too. I loved her tunic, and also the pants with the skirt over them.

I think Ayana's would have translated better to JC than Kentaro's, and a lot of her pieces were ready to wear.

I felt bad when Brandon cried, but that's about it. However, I do wonder why Tim didn't tell him about the lack of color variation in his fabric. He walked into the room and was bubbling with glee.

The lack of a wow piece is a good point, but EVERY designer on PR knows that you have to end with a finale piece.

Random, I was just watching the video of Kentaro's collection again. And I really want that black cut out top / pink-white-black pants ensemble. I don't usually want looks from these shows. I really like it, though! If it was in a store and I had money to burn and a reason to wear it (haha), I totally would. The top, I'd have to put some kind of tank top under it (I'm too modest to have my skin flapping in the breeze like that) but still. And those pants, I really like them.

kthx

Dammit Lifetime, it looks like the tell all will not air this week. The previews had Hair commenting about tape gate, that "things happen." I was so looking forward to that.

I saw on another board that someone was referring to the Twins as Hair and Shorn. I think that is hilarious.
