Debate Project Runway

Seriously?

As Scorpio said, it was assumed that Tim was going to be saying it was gawdy but no -- HE LOVED IT! Couldn't they have said Brandon go back to the drawing board -- or cough up the dough you are keeping to spend it on fabric that is not on clearance!

Lol! He probably did find it on clearance! He went to Joanne's Fabrics and found the throw-away fabric and bought it all. Or, didn't he say he got it from a furniture store or something? It's not even clothing fabric.

Like I said in the other thread, if he wanted the Pink Flamingos to accent and tie together each outfit, and maybe have 1-2 full-flamingo, fine. But for all of them to be full flamingo (with some washed out flamingo vs full color flamingo) ...no. Please. Why would someone wear that?

rofl rofl and didn't he say that he actually bleached some of it to get that lighter flamingo shade?

I can't even imagine a fabric store having all those many yards/bolts of flamingo print fabric in 2017.

Yeah he did say that! That's what I'm saying! That doesn't count as two different colors lmao (flamingo and flamingo lite). I don't know why Tim was impressed by that. Like, seriously, add more shades and fabrics than flamingos bleached or non bleached.

rofl OMG- I was going to say it looked like patio furniture print.

So they could totally disappear on a flamingo farm?

Yeah, I know he said that it wasn't clothing fabric...I can't remember if it was upholstery like for a couch or curtains ...haha

flamingo and flamingo lite .

If those are not the names of cocktails tropical_drink cocktail - then they should be.

To bartender: "could I get a flamingo and a flamingo lite please?"

Googled "flamingo lite" , result: "29 Tinsel lit flamingo with hat and scarf for 39.99 at Target" so it's not a drink laughing .

I don't know why Tim was impressed by that.

That really surprised me , he told Margarita her crochet ringed waist band was gaudy/too much, I just couldn't believe he didn't tell Brandon that same thing about his print.

Seriously? - he actually admitted it wasn't clothing fabric? rofl I must have been too blinded (like a deer in headlights) by that pattern and Tim's acceptance of it to hear what he said.

I actually kind of liked Margarita's tacky gold rings and crochet. I might not always have classy taste but I know what I like. But not all the giant fish and sparkly bomber jackets or bellbottoms.

And okay, just for you Scorpion I went back and re-watched that part with Brandon. And he says "It's actually a [sunshade?] home fabric..." and Tim was like "Oh it's home?!" feels it curiously So I took that to mean fabric you'd use to decorate your home, like curtains etc, canopies...instead of clothing. haha! Right? I'm no design expert though...

I like the flamingo print, but WAY too much of it. I can just hear it now, how cohesive his line is, blah blah blah. I said in another post that there is a fine line between cohesive and repetitive, but he is way over that line with this collection. Seriously, what woman would buy or wear more than one piece? Isn't that in direct opposition to the idea of a collection?

I wouldn't even want that as an umbrella. But, some people (like you and others I've seen) do like it, so fine. :P But, moderation, like you're saying! Subtlety! And his is definitely repetitive! Again, maybe just a skirt with that flamingo print could be hip with a nice sleek top or something...but to be draped in it head to toe...noo

I think its cute and whimsical. In small doses, like most cute and whimsical things.

That's the question. Why would someone wear that? If this is some chick's collection, she wouldn't be NY. She would be Miami, which is why I don't get. Flamingos are associated with Florida. Why didn't Brandon get the this-is NY-Fashion-Week-not-Miami?

Cute or gawdy -- it's still not high fashion.

Good point, Poetist. How it seems like Florida yet he got a pass on that. To me it honestly seems like an old folk's home but...hey. Maybe an old folk's home IN Flordia? lol

It's okay- we all like what we like wink . I was one who really liked Brandon's streamers/strings designs.

Yes, you're right. And he may still win - but he shot himself in the foot in my eyes weary by picking that "home" pattern.
