I never understood why the IMDB boards (RIP) of the show and of Helen Baxendale were full of fiery posts against Emily, as if she was the most despicable character ever.

Sure, she acted awfully throughout season 5, especially in "The One With The Yeti", but did anyone try to see things from her POV?

Imagine the person whom are about to marry says, right at the altar, the name of his/her old flame instead of yours - and later is about to fly to your honeymoon with the same old flame. Only a totally insensitive person could have NOT become pissed off. That does not excuse Emily's awful behavior in the following episodes, but IMO it's mainly Ross' fault.

Joey was right, they got married too fast. But since they decided to, the least Ross could have done is say the right name.

I didn't realize there was so much Emily hate. I actually really liked her, up until Ross said the wrong name. After that she should have stopped the ceremony, and called off the wedding.

Because we're all invested in Rachel and Ross. That's how the show was written.

Ross is Rachel's lobster!

I also don't like her because i always be in Ross's favor with Rachel, and nothing different that
