I was an ongoing viewer of this series back when it originally aired. Who of my generation doesn't remember the slow-motion running and jumping and the associated sound effects? This show was a definite viewers' fave during its 1973-1978 run.

One of the show's big pop culture influences is how much leisure suits became popularized as a fashion staple for males as a direct result of heroic Steve Austin routinely wearing one. Pretty much every male - young or old - went out and, at some point during those years, bought one or more leisure suit.

I, in my teens, was no exception. A leisure suit was the only type "cool" suit to own, if a male teen, during that period.

For anyone needing a visual refresher of what leisure suits looked like, here are numerous pictures of Lee Majors wearing variations on the theme: https://www.flickr.com/photos/mazeman2011/albums/72157631923645699

If I'm not mistaken, mine was "rust" colour. Why that colour, I don't know.

Oh! Then that explains why teachers of that era (male and female) were wearing leisure suits to school, day in and day out - because they were fans either of Steve Austin - or - Lee Majors - or - probably both.

And this also explains why teachers kept striking for six-figure salaries.
