After watching the recent episode this question needs to be discussed. Now I was a huge Cas fan when he first joined the show. He seemed to have a purpose and reason for being around. He seemed like a decent character even in season 6 and 7, every character eventually goes bad when it runs this long. After that season he has been a damsel in distress and that gets tiring. He just creates problems for the brothers and the world.

Castiel felt like a character that should have been killed off after redeeming himself from season 6 or had a spin off after season 5. He provides nothing for the show( he is not even a comic relief) and I hate saying that as a fan that use to like him. He has no powers, gets his ass beat every episodes because he has no basic fighting skills, gives the bros someone to save every episode. Just time for the character to go.
