I was recently rewatching the episode where Holly Harvey stabbed her grandparents to death for, among other things, interfering in her relationship with her girlfriend Sandy. They give all these complex psychological reason for why she used a knife. And I'm thinking, "She's 14, there probably isn't a gun in the house, and knives are easy to get your hands on."
