讨论 Marie Antoinette

Series is locked in as French Language however this is incorrect. The series was filmed in English and aired in English with additional viewing options of French subtitles / dub.

Seems like spoken language was prematurely added and locked as French and should be English (maybe there's some French spoken somewhere too??) But the original movie language should still be French I think. It is a French production produced for the French market albeit with subtitles (but also sold to USA for example, but that doesn't make it English original tv show language).

But I've always found the different between Original Movie Language, Spoken Languages and Production Countries to be utterly confusing for stuff like this woman_shrugging

Yeah I might have got the exact categories mixed up but definitely agree spoken language should be English. I've seen the first two episodes and it's entirely in English other than names of locations / titles.

The series is announced on the Canal+ website as France, Royaume-Uni, but the United Kingdom doesn't appear on the online credits (1 and 2). The series is presented as a "Canal+ original". The production itself took place in France.

The first broadcast took place in France on Canal+ starting on October 31, 2022. The audio is available in French or English with or without subtitles. Based on Wikipedia, the United Kingdom release date is not yet known.

On IMDB, this series is listed as French in French language. I quote:

Country of Origin: France
Official site: the Canal+ website
Language: French

So, for me, the origin language should be set to French.

The spoken language is currently also set to French, but it is not locked.

On the Canal+ website, you can choose the language. I have seen the first episode completely in French.

Yes, that makes sense.

Did you notice if it was a dub? In the trailer it's clear that the spoken English (on the few lines you can see a character speak) is not dubbed. So if there is an original version in French that would change things. The cast is a mix of French and international actors, mostly international for the main roles, which would make it less likely they recorded a different version in French.

It seem that its a dub, but it wasn't noticeable for me while watching the episode.

Then they did a good job! I think that means English is the way to go for spoken language (unless there's some French dialogue included in the original version).
