I watched the Simpsons/Family Guy crossover. And Through the whole episode Lisa Simpson was trying to improve Meg's Self Esteam and Peter took every opportunity to dump on her. This might have been funny once. But when they did it over and over again. It was no longer funny anymore. You know Homer Simpson might be boorish oaf. But he dose genuinely love his kids. Peter Griffin is kind of guy i would call Child Protective Services on.

I never watched much Family Guy, but I remember feeling what you described.
The Simpson's humor is "irony". Family Guy humor is "sarcasm".
For anyone not sure of the difference between the two, these two shows are a great illustration. Put-down humor works for some people (Everybody Loves Raymond, All in the Family) but to me it gets old fast.

Archie at least had redemption qualities and the joke was on him. Peter never learns and is above it all

Even the worst of the worst Simpsons episodes are better than the best of the best Family Guy episodes.
Family Guy is such a horrendous show.

May be so in your eye's but 18 seasons in the bag and still going strong suggests it has a good following. ;)
