The first two seasons were ok, but in season 3 it veered wildly off course with some ridiculous situations. A woman listens to her husband in the loft where a ridiculous amount of banging and thumping is going on followed by her husbands torso crashing through the ceiling - does she run screaming out of the flat? Oh dear me no - she hides in a closet. A woman hears hangers jangling in a closed wardrobe - later she hears suspicious creaking of floorboards - does she call the police or get out of the house with her room mate - nah - keep on making supper. When DS Ripley is shot - by a vigilante who somehow knows Luthers address - guess what - Luther is arrested for Ripley's murder because he asked the vigilante to do it !! That was so pathetic. Do writers think that viewers would not ask the questions - how are you going to prove any of that? If I was Luther I would have sued them for false arrest at least twice. Quite honestly the endless focus on Luthers unorthodox methods got rather tiresome and once Alice left all interest left with her.
