Discuss House of Cards

Well, it looks as though Season 6, if it ever gets completed, will be the final season. I think the timing of NETFLIX's announcement, 18 hours after the Spacey accusations, is suspect. They've _'known for months' _this was the final season, but somehow that was kept completely under wraps until Spacey gets accused of harassment and borderline pedophilia. Now they don't even know if they will complete the final season. I'm not sure how they could. They will have to have every single cast member and crew member sign a legal document saying they're okay working with Spacey. And they clearly can't leave the perv alone with anyone - since he apparently enjoys sex with anything that moves - man - woman - child. What a complete mess. Who knew Spacey would be almost as bad as Frank Underwood?

It was a shock about Spacey being a perv, but I don't think Netflix is so anxious to leave the money on the table, so to speak. So many other actors are involved with this. Why hurt their paycheck? Maybe they'll come to their senses and replace him. Ridley Scott just had Christopher Plummer come in and re-shoot scenes for a Spacey movie that was getting released December 22, completely removing Spacey from the movie. It can be done, they should give it a try. Leaving us without any ending to the series leaves a bad taste. Why get involved with any series if they end up just pulling it without a finish? We paid money to see the thing, right?

From what I've heard, they are going to kill off Frank Underwood, and then wrap up the series.

"Almost" needs a lot of weight. Frank Underwood is a murderer - no one is accusing Kevin Spacey of killing multiple people.

It was a discussion starter mixed with sarcasm. Sheesh.

Simmer down.

Let's be honest, Spacey/Frank Underwood made HoC. It'd be really stupid to replace him with another actor considering 5 seasons have already been done with Spacey (plus despite his pervy ways in real life he still did a great job as Underwood).

The only scenario I see is they kill him off screen or digitally use his likeness to abruptly kill him on screen. Then Claire Underwood takes centre stage.

I disagree, I think Spacey could be replaced, the audience will tolerate it and according to whomever they use may really love the results. Supposedly they only filmed a couple of episodes of season six before they separated from the production and Spacey, but the idea that the writers would have to come up with a completely different show from the direction they were going in seems like it might be too much too ask. I think the writers are the bigger problem. And the idea that lesser actors may be promoted to a higher role now. What did their contracts say? Are they making more money now or is the production asking too much of them without compensation? This is probably a bigger problem than the one we see with Spacey.

I think he could be replaced, too. There's been an extended convo on this in another TMDb thread testing the pros and cons.

I know, right?!

Boy this is getting depressing. I think it's time to just write off HoC and not even think about it again. Netflix doesn't have much more for me. That Stranger Things is mostly for kids I think and everything else I like is a documentary.

Have you seen Ozark... ?!

OK, wait. I did see Ozark! Yeah that one was fun.

Travelers is pretty good.

I saw a bit of Travelers, but it didn't seem to hold my interest. Maybe it reminded me of Sens8 too much. Sens8 started strong but you got the feeling that they didn't really know where it was going when they started it.

Meh.

No show/story is for everyone, no doubt (am one of those who has not yet seen a single episode of Breaking Bad).

But, in terms of production quality and story, Ozark is quite engaging.
