Discuss House of Cards

So not a single person in production could tell them that there is no such name is Akhmed? It's one thing if language barrier makes some people pronounce it that way but to have it written like that...

It's Ahmad/Ahmed etc. The H is not silent which is hard for a lot of people speaking European languages to do, so they overcompensate with the KH sound.

This may be a tiny detail but it really bugs me because it says something about the world. That they sure can talk a lot ABOUT people from the middle east but not enough WITH them to learn a thing or two.

Aw man! All this time I thought it was spelled Ockmid.

Yeah, no, it's Ahmed/Ahmad depending on the country. Pronounced just as it's written with the H not silent so it's hard for a lot of language groups to pronounce it.

I guess if it's someone from an old Soviet republic it could very well me the "kh" (spanish J) sound in the middle but not in Middle Eastern/North African context.
