I had a joking thread a long time ago about what if the Big Bang Theory had been on HBO. So is this show going to equate to excellently written, naked, cussing scientists?

Don't forget the dragons. Lots of dragons.

Hahahahaha. So maybe the guys get sucked into a live action Dungeons and Dragons World and all the dragons have boobies?
Edit: And say the F-word a lot?

What makes a show "within the Big Bang Theory universe?" They acknowledge the existence of Pasadena?
It's difficult to imagine it being any good.

What makes it within the Big Bang Theory Universe remains to be seen and is what we can have fun speculating on for now. How it's going to be any good is a valid question, but it does bode well that it will be on HBO Max because just about everything I have watched on that platform has been excellent. I can't imagine they would agree to host a pile of poop.
One question I have though is how many comedies have been an hour long? It almost seems like if it's going to be an hour long it's going to have to be a comedy-drama.

Just add a laugh track, and it will be a comedy the whole hour long.

That worked on the major networks but what about HBO Max? I just can't even imagine the platform that put out Game of Thrones and Succession putting out a Chuck Lorre show with a laugh track.

Maybe it'll be one of those teacher classroom school shows along the lines of Room 222, Welcome Back Kotter, or Head of the Class. There's a new bunch of nerds and they get taught by professors Sheldon, Leonard, Raj, and Howard with real life lessons from Professor Penny (Molecules!). https://youtu.be/Ws5tZ59JDDk

They have done some 'family-friendly' shows through the years.

That, and/or there will be few episodes.

Yes but that would go along with the HBO Max format. A limited number of seasons and episodes per season, which is something that I respect. I say, try to make an actual work of art not to bleed every cent from a show that you can.

I've actually thought about that scenario multiple times but feel like it's already been done enough.
Although I don't think this will be it, while we've had multiple shows that shed light on nerdom including TBBT, there aren't as many shows that really go into the depths of geekdom. (Freaks and Geeks is one of my favorite shows but they only scratch the surface.) They could take Lonely Larry, Captain Sweatpants, etc and make a show out of them but I'm not sure that it would actually be a comedy.
It could be called "My Mother's Basement".
