Inspired by something that FKA said in a different thread, do you have a relative who insists every year on bringing a dish to a holiday meal that is just... Blech?
Whether it is something that would be universally considered yucky, or just something that is not to your taste, please share that dish with us for some giggles!
(And this thread is not meant to be mean. They'll never know and it might give us some laughs.)

I don't have the recipes but here is an example of the pineapple cheese casserole that I found online.🤢

@Lemons Thanks. What about your mother-in-law's dressing? Do you know what the ingredients are?

The ingredients that I know are stuffing mix, rice and sausage. It's not that I don't like the individual ingredients, but the finished product is just so dry.
My other grandmother (who was a phenomenal cook, not the one who made the lime Jell-O 😁) used to make a dressing that was so good which was basically just bread, spices and chicken broth but it was very moist. I miss it.

Is the mix cooked outside or inside of the turkey cavity?

Outside. It is a side dish.

Excuse me for asking all those questions. I was trying to determine what the reason was that the dressing was so dry. Has anyone ever - oh dare - commented on that?

Nooooo. She is not good at dressing, but she is gifted at guilt!

My Aunt’s "belchy dish" is a yellow rice with mixed vegetables, and chicken casserole. Since it’s made with the usual aromatics, I’m thinking it’s not the ingredients; but, a combination of her special blend of herbs and spices plus that dishwater-based broth she bakes it in. (In her defense…it’s not her fault. My uncle was a lot like Raj when it came to knowing his way around a kitchen; so for 40+ years she never had to stir-a-pot.)

Sounds like it meets the "blech!" category indeed! A dish to be avoided, or to only take a bit of and then push it around on your plate enough to look like you ate some of it.

Another holiday food that has registered a small "blech!" or at least some confusion over the years is a kind of bread that has been given to my husband by a client every Christmas. We honestly can't tell what it is supposed to be. To look at it you might think it is banana bread, but honestly, it tastes like cat food smells.

Personally, I can't stand anything made with sweet potatoes/yams & green bean casserole (it always looked liked vomit to me), I prefer fresh green beans cooked with bacon & onions.

Since the CDC has issued guidelines advising everyone stay home and enjoy Thanksgiving dinner with only those in their own household...so, many of us (hopefully) will be spared "belchy dishes" this year.
