Now that the show is (allegedly ) over, I'm sure the cast is looking at their last paychecks and thinking "a million dollars a show...hmmm...I'm thinking SPIN-OFF!"
So what's your idea for a Big Bang spin off? Here are some starters:
The Cooper Family A shameless rip off of the Addams Family. Sheldon and Amy are crazy scientists performing wacky experiments much to the confusion of their neighbors.
Big Improvements The gang all move into the same cul-de-sac neighborhood where they use their scientific expertise to solve household problems. (Think laser guided weapons grade hedge trimmers.)
The Stuart Chronicles Stuart becomes a comic book creator. The beginning of the show has him at a work table. It fades into a comic book story with Sheldon, Leonard and the rest as less than competent comic book superheroes along the lines of The Tick.

On behalf of Gorns, you will need to see the epic battle between a Gorn and Captain Kirk:

(> And poor Philip. You've not even acknowledged him.) Well I feel sorry for him ever since he got that John Deer letter. I thought it best to let him go his own way.

You know what I learned from your video clip? I learned that Gorns look like an alligator and a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle made some sexy time.
Two things to close out the night:
1.I went to a Cheesecake Factory for the first time in my whole life this evening. I didn't see Penny, they weren't wearing yellow vests with jeans skirts, and there was no bar area with a keyboard for people to sing. You'd think they'd never seen the show!
2.I don't really have a 2nd thing. One just didn't sound enough.
3.Goodnight

Oh, I've never doubted that Gorns were on Star Trek. In fact, that's really the only thing I DO know about Star Trek. Well, aside from what Sheldon Cooper told me over the years. I will say, though, that I'm sensing a bit of Sleestak in the Gorn's heritage. Maybe he should send off a sample to Ancestry.com for analysis.
So were Gorns only in one episode of Star Trek, or were they recurring characters?

Gorns were only in one episode, but that was the great thing about original Star Trek: they would find a brand new alien race deal with it and have it solved in 48 minutes. Later versions would have all of these weird political entanglements (not to mention "sexy time")
See there; I can make a post without going off the rails and sinking.

I see. I probably would have liked Star Trek growing up. I always liked science fiction. I have a thread idea I might start that is related to Star Trek- actually something I had thought about starting on the old board but never did. I hope you (and anyone else who wants to) will join in. Thank you for starting this spin-off thread! I think it spawned some cool ideas!

@Lemons Sounds interesting. Of course you're always welcome to visit the "Star Trek (1966-1969)" Discussion Board.

The Gorn(s) were in just one episode of Star Trek The Original Series (TOS) but they "returned" in the Enterprise series.
Why they would then be an unknown mystery species some 75 years later, was never explained.

The Gorn were also in one episode of the animated series as well as in one of the TNG books. When and where were they considered mystery species? Were they never brought into or contacted by the Federation? A Gorn likes to be alone. Unless they are with another Gorn.
Battlestar Gorn-Actica - A drama about a ship full of Gorns.

The Enterprise series supposedly took place about 75 years before TOS (The Original Series), and while in Enterprise the Gorn seemed to be a known species (Mirror Archer wasn't surprised by hearing the name, etc) in the TOS episode "Arena" they were new/unknown.

I feel that we have strayed rather far afield of the original topic.
I blame Lemons. Getting us all excited about Star Trek and then running away to laugh.
Probably took a train to Hawaii.

Yes indeed. We even mentioned Gorns here and she didn't show up. Darn that Lemons !

So speaking of Gorns, I thought I knew Enterprise. When did they make an appearance?

In the two part episode "In a Mirror Darkly" It was the parallel mirror universe where all the crew members are evil but don't have the facial hair that let you know that your mirror universe double is evil as in the similar episode in TOS. However the new Gorn is some crappy CGI Gorn, not a crappy costumed Gorn. I don't remember why the Gorn even bothered to show up.
