Discuss The Big Bang Theory

Saw this online. It’s someone’s list of the Top 4 Reasons for the show being cancelled. (Yes, I know there are five--but, I'm just the messenger sunglasses.)

4) It had nowhere left to go.

3) It was in decline (11% in 18-49 demographic) and it’s super expensive to make.

2) It does not need new episodes to make money (international syndication/merchandising/licensing/DVDs, etc.

1) Parsons wants to leave.

Any thoughts?

ON ANOTHER NOTE:

Why do theseclown clownclownkeep saying the show was cancelled. It wasn't cancelled; it chose to end--there is a difference. It could continue if it wanted to do so; there is still a market for it; it has sky high ratings; it has advertisers that are raring to go; and it has loyal, adoring fans wishing for more!

Cancelled = getting kicked out! Deciding to end = leaving of your own accord!

Do you have the link to where you found those 'reasons'?

Because everything eventually comes to an end and this TV show has had a long and successful run on the air.

I have seen similar lists: why it is "cancelled", why it should be cancelled etc. They don't mean anything just filler. If I were to make an internet pie of chart stuff on the internet lists would make a large slice but not as large as baby pictures

No.

Thought the material was interesting enough; but, didn't like the guy enough to link him. He was kind of smugee and seems to be having too much fun saying "cancelled".

Anyway...

It was just your ordinary, everyday, run of the mill YooToob search: TBBT Reason the show is ending.

I googled & a whole bunch of things came up. I guess the show isn't as 'beloved' as they think?

That's just the way it is. Haters gonna hate!

The answer is "ALL OF THE ABOVE"

I’m kinda iffy about #4.

If Team Big Bang were pushing for two more seasons, then it stands to reason that there had to be(?) somewhere they were planning to go with the storylines. Just because I/we/the author of the “Top 4 Reasons….” couldn't envision it—doesn’t mean it wasn’t there.

They could always take the show somewhere if they had to.

Who is "they"? And the show CLEARLY is still beloved. It's STILL near the top of the ratings every week, and it's raking in 100's of millions in syndication and DVD sales.

I don't think there's any great mystery as to why it's ending. Parsons wanted to leave. They've (Parsons, CBS, etc...) been pretty transparent about it.

If I were choosing one, that would be it.

Even so, I'm willing to bet that the writers could write around Parsons if they had to (and wouldn't even have to change the name); but, since they don't have to--all things considered--it's not worth it to them (beancounters).

I left out that a lot of the results were 'negative'.

I also think that the writers, producers, and cast saw the extreme quality drop when Two and a Half Men went on after Sheen left. The show wasn't the same and the quality tumbled. I'm not sure they'd want to try and force feed a "Sheldon-less" TBBT at the audience. And I'm rather glad. Like it or not, Sheldon is the focus character of the show. I think if OTHER cast members left, TBBT could go on. It wouldn't be the same, but it would be acceptable as long as Sheldon was there. TBBT without Sheldon is like Happy Days without Fonzie. It just wouldn't work.

Exactly. We All agreed back on the old board that if Jim decided to leave the show would be over, now we're seeing it manifest in real life.

Honestly I'm rather it end earlier than too late.
