Ugh, What started as promising in the first 20 minutes, just fell of the cliff in the second 30 minutes. The nuke attack built drama right from the start, but once the saved characters were in the safe building, compound, whatever you call it, it derailed quickly. You have a high tech way of killing the radiation upon arrival, yet they are basically burning candles for light. That's a lot of candles. The restrictive diet cube...no calories. after 18 months everyone would look like the would weigh 60 lbs. 6 or 7 people after 18 months would have killed the Paulson character, with the insanity and the way she treats them. they are scared she will kill them, but they could easily overtake her and Kathy Bates. the second episode has to be better or I'm done.

God is this the only topic on the new season? What the hell happened to everyone who used to visit the IMDB boards. Talk about boring.

Well, for what its worth, I think its a DEFINITE step up from AHS:Cult and am intrigued to see what happens next (first time in awhile I was let down the episode ENDED, I wanted MORE!)
That opener was hard to top...I've had a fear of Nuclear Fallout since the day I watched The Day After as a child back in the 80s (lol), it was difficult to keep that kind of intensity through the WHOLE episode....still, should be an interesting watch & I plan to stick around (unlike Cult which I stopped watching after the 5th or so episode)!

Ive been a fan of the series from the start, so I'm going to enjoy this season regardless, i consider it a bit of a guilty pleasure for me. At the end of this episode i was left with the feeling of not having any ground beneath my feet, as I have no idea what the fuck is going on. I can't predict anything yet, and i am wanting to see the big picture of the season.

They didn't try to kill the Sarah Paulson character because she has armed security. Namely (but definitely not limited to) that 7 foot tall woman who carries a gun, a gun she was about to pull when Evan Peters's character had his outburst.

Fair enough. Maybe just the thought of what you are going to do if you have to take care of yourself in a nuclear aftermath could play into that as well. And, with the way the story jumps around in time, they could go back to a point, where they did try a coup and were shut down. I still think there would be a major weight loss from eating those cubes as your only source of food...but, I'll overlook that for now
