I am sorry to see the end of this show - it was - in the main - well acted and exciting in parts. I think the first couple of seasons were the best - the Brody section - they never quite achieved the tension and interest of those episodes. I liked the Peter Quinn section - but I think it was pointless to save him from the sarin only to give him a heart attack and subsequent disability later where he more or less committed suicide. I like Rupert Friend - I think they could have made a lot more of him than they did. The show never quite returned to top form after the half way point - although it was still better than most other things on the television. The final season spent far too much time in Afghanistan showing us how brave American troops were dying in a pointless endeavour - I hated it when they killed off Max - he had been in it for so long he deserved to survive in the end!! The plot was fine - a Russian agent who knew Carrie from her imprisonment in Russia - the very attractive Costa Ronin - as Yevgeny - supposedly helping her to find the black box of the President's downed helicopter but in reality wanting the name of Saul's Russian mole in exchange for it. I thought the way they portrayed the new President was frightening - he was like a deer in the headlights - no mind of his own - no decision making ability - a complete lack of tactical and strategic knowledge - it made you wonder how the heck he got to be vice president - in fact how they heck he graduated high school. He came across as a complete buffoon. I didn't think that even Carrie would go as far as she did with regard to Saul. My main beef is with the ending. The idea that Carrie would end up living with/married to Yevgeny was ludicrous - his bosses would never allow it for a start - one of their top officers married to a bipolar American spy. How could he ever trust her or she him? And how would she be allowed within twenty miles of any classified information? NO - that was a step too far - unless of course they are both American agents now and have set up a network of their own. Also is she that cold that she could tolerate never seeing her daughter again? I guess that would be a good thing though - for Franny's sake.
