Homeland bediscussiëren

Would someone please explain Dar to me? Please be kind. I'm just lost with him. Is he good or bad? I know sometimes things aren't that black and white, but I'm not sure what he did or didn't do. It looked like he was behind some stuff, but then he acted like he didn't know what that tv guy was doing, so then I really was lost. And was he behind the hit on Quinn at the lake? I just could never tell if he was lying or not, and he has always seemed shady at the least.

Dar was initially the person in charge of taking Keane down, by using the propaganda machine to turn the country against her, and by pressuring her from the inside to make policy decisions, and get people his collective wanted, into positions of power.

He was not responsible for the attempted hit on Quinn. He was very protective of Peter, and put him there with Astrid, to protect and take care of him.

He was behind most of what O'Keefe ("TV guy") was doing, but noticed Quinn on his laptop, and O'Keefe tried to hide it. That's when Dar got Max to find out what was going on.

Other people in the collective, like that senator and the general decided to go over Dars head and kill Quinn. When they failed at that and at making Keane buckle, they decided to assassinate Keane and frame Quinn. Dar was against all of this, which is why he called Carrie with the info to protect Keane.

I'm not sure if he was behind killing the FBI guy and the van bomb. The last episode makes it seem like he wasn't.

Dar then said to Saul, in prison, that he still feels there is "something off" about Keane, and the final scene proves him correct.

He thought he was doing the right thing for his country. So you decide - "bad guy" or not?

Thanks a lot! That helps. I figured that whatever he was doing that was "wrong" was because he thought it best for the country. And, that could open a whole other can of worms during these times! grinning

He also murdered a couple of people. (Jhavadi (spelling?) and IMO the muslim kid). He also took Carrie's kid away from her.

He's not a good guy even if he didn't want things to go dark as he said. He already made it dark.

And I know him being involved in the van bombing is left up to interpretation, but I just feel at that point he was involved in everything and it wasn't until he found about Quinn being a target that he realized he wasn't and that's when he started to panic.

Oh, yeah. I forgot about those things he did. He definitely wasn't a good guy even if he thought he was right. I have never liked him. He always creeped me out.

Like others have said, Dar Adal definitely isn't good, but he's not all bad either. He did genuinly care about Quinn and tried to save him. Although, even that is debatable, because based on some of the vague evidence given in the show, Dar Adal either sexually abused Quinn when he was a teen or at least used him as some kinda sexual pawn.

I think all they put out there was that Dar had romantic love for Quinn.
