Discuss The Walking Dead

No it doesn't so it was wildly shocking to be surprised by TWD. I admit to knowing who would die from a spoiler, but the manner, the heads on a pike still ALIVE... jaw dropping.

Tara and Enid were the worse. Long time characters I had come to love and respect. Tara lead Hilltop so I understand her being killed, but Enid did nothing to earn the wraith of Alpha. Was she picked because she was there? The children because killing kids is always a way to show your enemy what you're "made of". Henry caused all this (aside from the accidental discovery) and his death while awful for Carol (Alpha will regret no doubt this act) was understandable. But the others and all... similar to when Negan showed up and killed Abe and Glenn... showed Rick and all who they were dealing with. More a what than a who. Alpha has that vibe, only with a countless horde of walkers she can lead.

What can our remaining heroes do? No guns\bullets. No gas except for whatever is keeping Daryl's bike working (I seem to recall cornahol being a fuel at one point so maybe...). Talk is spreading about next season being Negan's season to lead the settlements like a military general. That would be interesting.

An audio signal like a dog whistle using the broadcasting equipment they have could disperse the horde or cause them to turn on the Whisperers. That is the only way I see them being defeated.

I must have missed how TWD explained away having no more guns and bullets. It's America.

Must've missed that, too. If the majority of people have died, the remaining stores of fuel should be plenty. It's not like they're doing family vacations to the Grand Canyon every summer these days.

I'm not seeing it. Negan was no tactician of any better skill than Rick's group. I'd bet on Carol any day of the week over Negan.

At any rate, I really liked Tara as well. And yes, Enid's been around. Hated to see them on pikes. Having said that, I love how TWD made zero attempt to bother trying to show/explain how in the hell the Whisperers managed to remove all those people without being seen or detected; how they even managed to gain entry to the site without being detected. Yeah, sure, they showed Alpha blending in, but also being noticed and unrecognized - how many other of her stinking Whisperers could have also blended in to look like someone from the other communities, yet no one recognizes them?

And, I maintain, Beta should be all kinds of dead. After falling over 50 feet, not a single broken bone?

So much BS.

Going by how everything has become 18th century (horses) I assume gas expired or ran out ages ago (during the time jump). Other than Judith, no one seems to have a gun anymore so I have to assume they have no bullets for them and they are all in storage. Eugene needs raw materials to make gunpowder, etc so I assume...

Okay it's all assumption. If they had firepower wouldn't they have used it already?? Daryl did make the statement when the Whisperers first showed up at Hilltop "We have enough firepower to light you up" but I thought that was an empty threat. Prior to the time jump everyone carried. Maybe they don't due to the back to nature thing or using silent weapons is best or... they just don;t have ammo.

Every work of fiction demands a certain degree of suspension of belief - it's make-believe, it's not real. I get that. But, it's a fine tipping point from the sublime to the ridiculous, and this show has tripped over that line a-plenty.

And, yeah, for all its blemishes, it's been a decent nine years with more ups and good things on screen than bad things pulling it down. Some of these issues, though, are grating on my nerves.
