IMDB reviews of the premier have been almost too good. People are celebrating the "return" of TWD they loved in the first five seasons. That it is back on track! Gonna be a great season!
Hold on! Many premiers had the same punch and then after a couple eps regressed back to nonsense and slow sludge.
One of a few questions that has stuck with me is if the Sanctuary is incapable of growing crops (as Daryl said, it is a factory) and not pulling it's own weight, then why stay there? Why not integrate the people with Hilltop and Alexandria? Still a lot of distrust?? The remaining Saviors not wanting to leave "home"? If the land is no good for crops there ain't nothing Rick brings them that will help it be. I recall in the trailer a repaired bridge being the scene of what looks like a major fight between one side and another. Saviors vs Hilltop?? And just what does the factory make??
Maggie seems to think it is all one sided. She gives Hilltops food to the Sanctuary but nothing is ever given back. So...?? Move them out! Relocate if not in established community then somewhere where the land is better.
Nice to see Gregory get his finally. And how bad was Enid hurt? She is in a wheelchair! Also, what of the the actual perpetrator of the crime and his wife? Banishment??

My thoughts exactly about the Sanctuary. If it's not sustainable, they need to move somewhere else.

I think they are hoping for Negan to return and take care of them.

But they shouldn't. Unless Negan when choosing his gang picked people of weak will and no skills other than learning to shoot a gun. As the bible says in one part "they reaped where they did not sow". They never planted, raised livestock, or really did anything for themselves. I do not even recall if the factory they are in made anything. After all they needed Eugene, another outside resource, to make bullets!
In effect they are a group of useless people. Easily picked off by the walkers or dying and becoming one themselves if not for Negan.
Maggie said "they surrendered, we let them live"; meaning that was their "gift" to them, life. Maybe that was a mistake. A 100 or so useless leeches are no good to anyone.

I'd wondered what they did about the guy who actually attacked Maggie and hurt her face... they hang Gregory, but miss him? It's a strange detail about an ep I enjoyed... I liked how they just got on with getting rid of Gregory, for once and for all. How many times does someone get a chance to mess stuff up for others on this show? Enough was clearly enough....

I speculated they, as in his wife too, were banished but, I don't know. I hope they don't let the thread dangle and at least make mention of what happened in tonight's ep.

Maggie may be more lenient with them. They just lost a son. Gregory was using that for his own ends.

They're in Virginia, I should imagine there are farms and orchards within a reasonable distance from all the settlements. Why would they even try to farm an area with poor soil The idea that they are lacking areas to plant crops is ludicrous.

Agree. But it's a TV show so there has to be tension. Again, I do not even know (does anyone)?) what the factory does! Was it just a big place to hold the bulk of the saviors (remember all the other outposts)?

We do know they make pickles, that might possibly be it's main function.
Perhaps Negan is sitting in his cell going, "Damn, I would dearly love having me a pickle right now."
