Diskuter Game of Thrones

Still most consistently good show ever shame if they would have just taken there time with the last 2 seasons like HBO offered them but I guess Ryan Johnson got into there heads and now we have this.

I tend to be on the side that the show ended dismally but it is nowhere on the level of tomfuckery as The Last Jedi . That film will go down as one of the biggest disasters is film/storytelling history.

Is the only reason anyone talks about that shows is because doesn't having a completely embracing ending. If Walter White turned into a Drug Dealing Rabbit (which i might have preferred). Would anybody be talking about it now. Besides whats the best is completely subjective. I certainly don't consider Breaking Bad to be the best ever. Because i tried to watch it. But i just found it to be a boring drama about an a$$hole drug dealing. Ever notice that most these shows are about a$$holes. It seems to be a common thing on TV. You can't have a "Rocky Balboa", "Andy Dufresne" and "Atticus Finch" on TV. If Mr. Rogers came back from the dead. Some TV producer would have his throat slit and not because hes a Zombie. Im Surprised they haven't tried make Adolf Hitler into some weird AntiHero. Or is he too big of an A$$hole for TV.

Yeah, but the good guy trope had been played out but it will come back. The reason these dark "protagonist" have been a thing of late is because for so long Hollywood plagued us with boy scout heroes who always did the right thing and never ever messed up. People realize that life is not so black and white so when they actually began to provide us characters like this then the public ate it up (Jaime Lannister anyone?) . It's gonna get played out though and I think the ultra good guy will make a come back and of course, get played out again. The ebbs and flow of storytelling trends.

All im saying i don't think its good for people to exclusively watch shows about horrible people and, general negativity. When i come across a$$holes in real life, i dont think. "I want a five part mini-series about him." No, its more like "Get away from me you, A$$hole". Believe it or not good people do exist. Heroes might be played out. But at least it gives people something to inspire to. Kids who watch Mr. Spock every week, may have become scientist. Kids running around in there superman caps. Might have become Police Officers and Fire Fighters. If you want be like Walter White or Tony Soprano. Yeah good luck with that.

LOL I feel ya man but a single act or even a series of acts does not label a person an asshole. Especially if at face value they appear to be atrocious acts but then you find out that the person had a very compelling reason to perform said act. Now, if they are illustrating a character that all he ever does is dirt but he's a sweetheart to his daughter then yeah, its hard to get behind that character. But most of the time these characters are more nuanced than that. The most famous example is Michael Corleone who starts off as an All American kid who wants absolutely nothing to do with the "family business" but his love for his father starts him down a spiraling path to where he becomes quite a detestable character. This is an example of a journey that these writers are trying to illustrate.

I don't know exactly how successful a show would be if it followed the antics of let's say The Joker, for example starting off with a full-fledged batshit (pun intended) crazy Joker. Not a lot of people would be interested in that I don't think. Watching a guy just be an absolute shit to everyone and that was the center focus of the show.

Most of these shows are Soap Opera for people who think there too smart for Soap Opera. They think because it has a bigger budget. That somehow it dosn't have anything common with Bold and the Beautiful. Most of these shows are all about people backstabbing each other. So dose daytime soaps. GOT especially is about Love Triangles and Sexual Hoopla. Well so is daytime soaps. Killing characters for nothing but the sake of Drama. GOT dose that all the time and so dose Daytime Soaps. Soap Operas always focus on the worse of Humanity. Because you cant keep a show going for decades if everyone gets along. That why Soap are criticized for being manufactured and phony drama. That a reason why you can have a good natured person on these shows. And that why movies are still a superior visual art. Because not all movies need to adhere to this $h!tty formula to be popular. And they can be about anybody of any walk of life. Not just A-Holes.

I remember someone said. " TV can only be popular. But only movies can be truly great" In 50 years i fully expect people to be watching great movies like 12 Angry Men, Citizen Kane, Schindler's List, Shawshank Redemption, Pyscho. But in 50 years, who in there right mind is going be watching Hundreds of 70+ hour overrated TV shows with Horrible endings. Hell most people today don't watch show from 50 years ago. Except for maybe Star Trek.
