Discuss Game of Thrones

Am I the only one who thinks this show is severely overrated?

What other show received so much insane hype and never delivered?

GOT is hands down the most over hyped overrated show of all time. It in no way lives up to the hype at all.

Is it widely popular yes of course but when you actually objectivity break it down its no way as good as they claim.

Breaking Bad was really good: Amazing story, incredible acting, directing, production value, originality , etc.

Sopranos was definitely better than GOT. But the last season and season finale was big let down. But hey at least we keep talking and wondering what the ending really means?

Theres no way GOT can end in a satisfying manner it will probably be some big shocker twist ending that leaves millions pissed and millions praising it because they follow everyone else.

I've enjoyed GOT throughout it's run, nonetheless were I forced at gunpoint to declare one show my favorite, GOT wouldn't be it: Louie or Peaky Blinders would be infinitely more viable candidates for that honor. Shows that received insane hype but never delivered... Many have come to view Breaking Bad in such a light, though I've never seen an episode and have no desire to do so. Always found The Sopranos more cloying than I did endearing personally, all due respect to the marvelous James Gandolfani

Check out breaking bad, the hype for that show was real.

I was just coming here to say that I think GOT is overrated and over hyped. I watch TV. I enjoy the escape, the comedy, and the story telling. But it's just TV.

Game of Thrones isn't bad. I like it. But it isn't close to being my favorite show. But for some reason this is the show that everyone wants to talk about.

For one thing I can't stand zombies. It's such an overrated and overused trope in movies and television. I also hate endless battle scenes. So from the looks of it this is gearing up to be the worst season yet.

I'm sure there is going to be some good this season. I'm going to keep watching. But I'm not looking forward to the battle with the white walkers.

Also these zombies are like cartoons like literally computer generated so how serious can you take them?

Did you ever think, "Hmmmm….maybe this show just isn't for me? Other people like it and that's cool. I don't have to like everything everyone else does?" Did you?

They are not saying they don't like GOT. They're saying that it's overrated and over hyped.

Go on easy on him, as Northern lads are a little slow... wink

For me, the show declined in quality starting with the Dorne arc.

The battle in episode 8.3 just dragged on, like the Hobbit part 3, but with the addition of a dark screen - even with the brightness increased, I could barely make out the action.

Everywhere you turn everyones talking about it like its some flawless master piece of art, social media, news, radio, tv, work, grocery store, etc but when you really sit down and watch it objectivity its no where near the level as many are praising it to be!

I heard a ton of people complained it was too dark like you said and the cinemaphotographer had to come out and make an official statement.

That wasn't a very good episode. None of the most important characters even got a scratch. And like you said the battle dragged on and the screen was dark the entire episode making it hard to see. I suspect that was the point. They wanted you to feel as in the dark as the characters were. Arya came out of nowhere too. I get that she's an assassin and has the power to remain unseen. But there was no way she could have gone undetected like. I don't like the wight walker story arc though so I'm glad to see it end.

Yeah its like they had this big huge build up to the actual war and beginning to actually combat and then it just dragged on way too long and you couldn't even clearly make out what was going on.

None of the main guys got killed or seriously injured which is just retarded.

The episode was brilliant showing the frightening nature of combat. The terrible vision is consistent with the real chaos of war/fog of war. In real war most of the effort goes into finding the enemy.

The ep was too dark to be frightening as it was impossible to tell what from what and who from who. So if that was the aim they failed. "The Battle of the Bastards" was truly monumental battle scene, shot during the day (when almost all time period appropriate battles were fought for the very reason all are complaining about the darkness - no one could see who was who, troops got lost, orders were impossible to communicate - how did Jorah's command to raise swords go ALL DOWN THE IMMENSE LINE without hand signals which are pointless at night - etc). I think HBO did not flip the bill for what the show runners wanted and they made due and used the night, quick edits, and the snow storm to obscure that they did not have the extras and make-up teams to make it happen.

Well I was able to see what was going on, but then I had a good idea of how it should go -in the first place. I think most posters live sheltered and pampered lives on the internet.
