Discuss Game of Thrones

Varys accused Ned that Robert's death was his fault - because he revealed to Cersei that he had learned the truth about her children, thus prompting her to dispose of Robert (with the help of her henchman/lover Lancel, who gave Robert a strong wine that dulled his senses during the hunt). Was it really Ned's fault?

Note that the scene in which Lancel kept giving Robert the wineskin took place in "A Golden Crown"- before the conversation between Ned and Cersei, which occurred one episode later in "You Win or You Die".

Does that mean Cersei has already made her move before Ned talked with her, and his ultimatum (as stupid as it was) had nothing to do with Robert's death?

Not sure getting Ned drunk before a "hunt" = death. I though that was every week activity. More likely Varys meant , in for a penny in for a pound. How else was Cersei to act. If anything he should have alerted Robert and let the king do what needs to be done!

First of all, Cersei got Robert drunk, not Ned.

There was no guarantee Robert would be killed by a boar, but according to Varys (in the book), Cersei had other henchmen positioned in the forest, to make certain Robert would be "accidently" harmed.

Anyway you did not answer my question: did Ned's ultimatum have or did not have anything to do with Robert's death? If it did not, what other motive did Cersei have?

From Cerci's POV , it would only be a matter of time before Robert was told, in which case she had no time to wait. Robert would have had all the blonde airs to the throne eliminated and Cerci would do ANYTHING to protect her children.
