I have the box set, and have watched eps in the past few months. I didn't get that feeling. Was it the tech stuff, like phones, TVs, cars and so on, or something more than that, which gave you that feeling?

Maybe not aging well was the wrong phrase to use. But with all the technology and money the FBI had to use they really portrayed the feds like keystone cops in trying to take down Tony. Was watching the Adriana as a snitch episodes recently. How her handlers just let her go missing and killed the way she did. Just made me realize how unrealistic it was

I guess I'd just agree to disagree on that point. I don't have as high an opinion of the competency of the agencies as some do.

As far as Adriana's death, I'm not sure how the feds could have known that Silvio picking her up was a setup. He was supposedly just giving her a ride to a hospital, IIRC. How could the feds have known that Christopher spilled to Tony?

One thing I love about The Sopranos is the fallibility of all of the players, from the family, to law enforcement, to the politicians, clergy, and on and on. No really white hats.

But, again, if something gets under your skin about a show, it's hard to watch it the same way. I've had the same experience. Anyway, good finding another (former?) fan on the site. I'm surprised this show, and some other great ones, have so little action on the boards.

I just this morning finished rewatching the entire series. Other than the cellphones, everything else seems almost timeless.

I just started watching The Sopranos on Amazon. I noticed the cell phones, big computer terminals, and cars right away...meaning I could tell story took place about 20 years ago. However, I'm finding the story engaging and I'm so glad I have something new to watch. I watched the first 6 episodes of season 1 last night!

Enjoy! There are some great lines!

I’m also watching again. What I find so funny is how I used to think their home was so chic & well decorated 😱😱 I also loved an interview I saw with Edie Falco where she said she couldn’t STAND being made up as Carmela. The technology really leaped ahead since that time too. Still a classic & one of my all time favorites

Adriana was supposed to come to them that afternoon. She was killed before she had the opportunity. It's not like they had a chip on her and Silvio to track her every movement and guess that she's in danger. Just because you're not shown every single detail of the story doesn't mean nothing is happening. The feds did start to investigate what happened. It's later revealed that they visited Adriana's mother to ask questions. And yeah they probably suspected that she'd been whacked but without evidence you can't do anything about it.

For the record, there are some technical aspects that dates the series. Some for the better and some possibly for the worse. It was the greatest series ever created - and pioneering the era of tv series catching up to the artistic levels of films - and still is.

I think shows used to be less concerned about being technically or procedurally accurate. That could be partly because law enforcement doesn't like really accurate information about their technical capabilities, their procedures, and their methods to be common knowledge, and TV shows cooperate with them on that. Of course there are other aspects which are a bit dated, such as the use of pay phones. It is difficult to find a pay phone these days. I wish that were not the case, but, oh well. In modern shows people use burner phones and change them frequently.
