Couple of points here that appeared to make no sense:

1) his sister asks him to 'stop lying' the night before the final day, but according to 'the reveal' that he tells his lawyer, at the stage she says that, he hasn't told any lies. The lying only changes the events of the very final showdown with JC, which he only reveals to the court on the final day. 2) after day 1, when the court breaks, we see him refuse to see his sister, and in his cell, he begins rehearsing what he's going to say the next day. But he can't seem to decide who came up with the next bit of the plan, jumping between Kyra and Kurt. This is strongly suggestive that he's already making the story up, but as in point 1, from the 'reveal', we're led to believe he hasn't made anything up in the bulk of the story, except for the final events leading to JC's shooting. So why does he appear to be making the story up at that moment?

These two things really frustrated me, as I was already hoping for a smarter resolution where some of the details would pay off in more compelling ways (like Kyra's obsession with reading - I was speculating if he might have been cherry picking aspects of the books she had been reading to string together his narrative or something like that, but no, she just loved books). I mean, there were loads of other problems with the show too, but these felt like fundamental story flaws.
