I have the entire Twelve O'Clock High series on DVD, although I don't really watch seasons 2 and 3 (Lansing was only on season 1, and Paul Burke was on seasons 2 and 3). Most people remember Lansing as Gary Seven on the Star Trek season 2 finale Assignment: Earth. I also have the DVD for the movie, which starred Gregory Peck and Dean Jagger. AND, I have the companion book about all things Twelve O'Clock High.
I remember him guest starring in different TV shows. He was Mister Seven in Star Trek "Assignment: Earth" and Control in "The Equalizer". A great actor,
You know what's really interesting about Robert Lansing? That he was so popular from being on that one Star Trek episode he had his likeness on Star Trek novels about Gary Seven, comic books about Gary Seven, and even a Gary Seven action figure! I wish I could find some Twelve O'Clock High merchandise with him on the cover.
@wonder2wonder I was reading my book about Twelve O'Clock High the other night, and apparently so many people were so upset about Robert Lansing getting fired that Paul Burke, Lansing's replacement, not only got hate mail from Lansing's fans (which I'm sure he expected), he even got hate mail from his OWN fans about the changeover! Now that is just wrong!
Robert Lansing, Gregory Peck, James Earl Jones, Robert Mitchum (as Commander Pug Henry in The Winds of War) were all handsome, all had deep, commanding voices and presence well suited for roles as military commanders.
